In reply to: Newbie to Trackbacks ???You beat me to the answer moshu 🙂
BTW Ali-butt, I noted you had modified someone elses theme. Out of courtesy you may want to re-enter the name of the originator in your footer.php.
Give credit where it is due.

In reply to: Newbie to Trackbacks ???Don’t confuse “pings” and trackbacks, they are separate and different animals.
A pingback is created (if turned on) if you place a link to an outside source that supports pingbacks. WP and Expressioneengine are two blogging programs that support it. Again if turned on this is automatic. The downside is it may slow your posting drmaticly. Best bet is to leave it off and only allow it on entries you desire it not on every post.
Trackbacks are used to place a link on someone else’s blog. It is a way to let that other blogger know you have a related article on your blog.
A note on blogging courtesy. When you trackback someone also place a link in your post to the permalink of their entry in the text of your post.
On another note: In looking at your site you have removed the trackback URL from each entry. Unless you display the URL or a link to it you will never receive any trackbacks.

In reply to: Count number of pagesWhat’s the point?
When you view manages pages it gives the entire list. While not the same as viewing it via the dashboard you still have the capability to see how many are available.

In reply to: BoatBlogs.NetInteresting, can’t remember seeing a blog on boating before. As one who grew up around them (Great Lakes, 20 year Navy vet) your title caught me eye.
One suggestion, (by an admittedly prejudiced racing nut) you might consider a section on boat racing (power & sail).
But that’s just me, and I already gave you my disclaimer.

In reply to: Redirect users to their just-posted commentMaybe you are correct and I misread the post, but jeebus how long of an entry must one have for this to be a major problem. A copy of War & Peace as an entry I concede it would create difficulties.
On a normal length post, sorry, still vote quirky.

In reply to: Redirect users to their just-posted commentOne vote for quirky.
If someone is posting a comment that means they must be on that themes single.php (it goes by various names dependent on designer) page.
Lets assume that person is redirected to somewhere else than that comments page. Will that person know if his posting actually appeared? Did it disappear? Go to moderation?
No he will again have to locate that page.
A very good reson to have a “home link” on your single.php page.

In reply to: Occasional breakage in theme listThanks shadow, I vaguely remember reading it will return the visitor to default if the set cookie calls up a missing theme.
I was just curious because I have had thoughts of deleting default Kubrick and using the side bar edition instead.
EDIT
And thank you also TechGnome, your “submit button” must work quicker than mine! 🙂Opps – make that “send post.” :–))
