My problem is exactly the same, word for word. I will create a new one.
But I want to add that on a second pass, it seems Jetpack is the culprit. When Jetpack is enabled, it creates the same 404 error, regardless of theme.
I’m having the same problem. I disabled all my plugins, changed the theme to one of the defaults, and the problem persisted.
I’m having the exact same problem, started today or yesterday, and I don’t have Polylang. I am also only seeing the error in Chrome.
