Support » Fixing WordPress » 404 Error coming from widgits.wp.com

  • I’ve updated my software to 4.9.4 and now my blog posts are coming up with a 404 error. Chrome reports this as:

From an embedded page at widgets.wp.com
Request Failed: Returned status of 404

The only real reference in the page source code is this:

    <iframe src='https://widgets.wp.com/likes/master.html?ver=20170629#ver=20170629&lang=en-ca' scrolling='no' id='likes-master' name='likes-master' style='display:none;'></iframe>
    	<div id='likes-other-gravatars'><div class="likes-text"><span>%d</span> bloggers like this:</div><ul class="wpl-avatars sd-like-gravatars"></ul></div>
    	<script type='text/javascript' src='https://stats.wp.com/e-201813.js' async defer></script>

I am trying my theme provider also, i have a suspicion it might be their code, however I thought I would ask here also, just to make sure.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

I’m having the same problem. I disabled all my plugins, changed the theme to one of the defaults, and the problem persisted.

@maddestmax, if you need support then per the forum welcome please create your own new forum post. Thanks.

My problem is exactly the same, word for word. I will create a new one.

But I want to add that on a second pass, it seems Jetpack is the culprit. When Jetpack is enabled, it creates the same 404 error, regardless of theme.

I have tracked it down to JetPack also. I disabled the Likes at the bottom of the posts and it went away. Trying to upgrade JetPack is another issue…
