In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)You can edit the toolbars by opening the Labnotes advanced editor plugin in a text editor. Move tools from long toolbar lines to shorter lines. It is quite easy to locate the lists and just move things around. I guess that one could add a fourth toolbar too: Look at how toolbar 3 is implemented, and make toolbar 4 and hope for the best (untested).

In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)ps. this is wrong: “Editor monkey does not work in WP2.0.4+”. Their website states “People have reported successfully using EditorMonkey 2.5 in WordPress 2.0.5.”

In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)Finally a solution!
1) I found this: http://www.mkbergman.com/?p=275
2) and downloaded this: http://www.mkbergman.com/wp-content/themes/ai3/files/code/ExtendedTinyMCE.zip
3) I then unzipped it in wp-content/plugins
4) copied the plugin directories wp-content/plugins/plugins/* to wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins
5) activated the new plugin
6) Now I have TinyMCE with TABLES, subscripts, superscripts, character maps etc. and also the “insert Gallery2 image” button (that is not available in Xinha).
This works with WordPress 2.0.5 (localized, finnish version) + event calendar 3. My browser is Firefox 2.0
If I had not installed Gallery2, I would probably choose Xinha, though.

In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)This latest version of Xinha is the best — most features, least problems in my particular setup (eventcalendar3…) — free wysiwyg editor that I have seen. The Wysi-wordpress (Mudbomb) was nice, too.
What I like about the Labnotes editor though, is that it uses/enhances the built in version of TinyMCE. This means that the editor plugin provided by WPG2 gallery2 plugin is usablein the Labnotes “editor”. In Xinha it is not (yet, at least).
Now I have two choices: tables (that I want) OR gallery2 integration (that would make life easier). Oh well, life was not supposed to be easy. Anyway, I have three choices and I like them all. That’s good.

In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)Oops. Clearing the browser cache made Mudbomb work. It shows tables and all. I feel so stupid now 🙁
Xinha is better though: it is still under development, and it has more features, esp. a lovely row of table tools.
I’ll take a closer look at that etiquetags, too.

In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)“Insert image” (image browser) doesn’t work either.

In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)Oh, sorry, I have to disable “rich editor” first. Much better 🙂 I found out that I can customize this too, by editing wordpress.js
Now I have subscripts, superscripts, charater map… and all the goodies. Except for tables and Gallery2 images… I did download the tables plugin and I followed the instructions, but “tables” is still missing from the toolbar…Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)NVU is completely out of the question, because I don’t have permission to install it in all the public libraries, university computer classes and internet cafes in town.

In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)I don’t like Mudbombs Wysi-Wordpress because it is broken:
1) Instead of the usual “post” window, I now have a “post” and an “undefined” window (or text area or what ever they are called). They are not even of equal sizes. I want just one editor window for my post.
2) the Mudbomb editor does not have bold or italic, no subscript either
3) tool tips look like this: {$lang_striketrough_desc}
4) my Gallery2 tool is not visible in Mudbombs editor
5) no tables in this either
6) the readme says that I should consult the HTML documentation, but no such documentation exists

In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)I tried both Deans FCKeditor and Wysi-wordpress and Xinha. They ALL made Event Calendar 3 fail. Finally I found this:
http://trac.labnotes.org/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/wiki/WPPlugin/AdvancedWysiwyg
It offers great flexibility and it also does not break the event calendar 3 input form/jscripts. Now I just need to install a few TinyMCE plugins (such as “table”, “fullscreen” and so on).
I have a problem, though. If I copy any of these TinyMCE plugins to wp-includes/jscript/tinymce/… then WordPress immediately drops me back to the basic editor. If I then rm -rf the plugin directory, TinyMCE will show up again.
I guess I need to edit something somewhere to make this work. Any ideas?

In reply to: Adding images: Not displayedI mean that http://www.domain.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/image.thumbnail.JPG
is visible, but it cannot be seen in the blog.
The blog uses http://www.domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/image.thumbnail.JPG
I can clearly see that it is this subdirectory “wordpress” that is the cause of this, but I do not know how to correct this. I did a search on this forum, but it was off little help.
I guess that I need to edit .htaccess, but what are the required changes?

In reply to: Most trouble free editor with good support for tables? (wysiwyg capable)Editor monkey does not work in WP2.0.4+ and its development has ended. NVU is a desktop tool not suitable for collaborative efforts (with many people) where people change constantly (yearly at least) and need to blog even from public computers, Macs, PCs, Linuxes… Can I have an NVU as a java applet or PHP code, thanks.
Still looking for alternatives to the “Deans FCKEditor for WP”. The Wysiwyg Pro is unfortunately too expensive for our ~60€/year (incl. webhotell) publishing budget.
– The Mudbomb Wysi-Wordpress?
– Xinha 4 WP?
– Any other?
