In reply to: multiple minisitesWhat you are talking about is WordPress Multisite. Each blogger/user has their own blog listed as a subdomain under the “parent” blog. They can independently control their own blog.
It’s free and available by downloading the regular full version of WordPress and choosing the Multisite option when installing. http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
Thanks, Scott, for the update. For those tracking the conversation, this is the link: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/allow-multiple-accounts/
Don’t you just LOVE the WordPress Community. 😀 You guys are awesome. Thanks so much.
You rock!!! It looks brilliant. Going to try it this afternoon. This will help so many. I’ve let the author know about all your hard work. Scott is one of the most prolific WordPress Plugin authors in the community and maintaining all of them can be a headache. I’ve pointed him in your direction. Thank you so much!!!
This will be less of a headache for you, I’m sure. You are the best!
I’m sorry. It takes less than 5 seconds to paste the code and set it for public view and hit submit, copy the generated link and paste it here. It’s also how we work around here since pasted code gets messed up so easily when pasted to a forum.
I’ll nag the author more. Thanks for your help.
As requested, posting your email and such is also a violation of forum policy. Can you please share it by posting to http://pastebin.com/ which is the standard for sharing long lengths of code. It was what was requested originally, and used throughout the forum. We’ve used this method since the very beginning with the WordPress Support Forum. This would relieve you of the burden and help the rest of us so much. Thanks.
I’m waiting to hear back from the plugin author.
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-allow-multiple-accounts-does-not-work-with-multisite-network-v31 has someone with a fix. I’ve notified the author and hopefully they will fix it, as the person with the fix hasn’t posted their fix to the pastebin so everyone can get access. Track that forum post for an update.
Please see: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-allow-multiple-accounts-does-not-work-with-multisite-network-v31
Unfortunately, the person with the fix has not posted the pastebin version of it. I’ve contacted the author and hopefully a fix is in the works.
Please, in accordance with forum rules, could the person with the fix please paste the fix in a pastebin file instead of people posting their email addresses? I’ve found others posting questions requesting a fix for this Plugin, and I’ve contacted the author, but the rest of us would love access to the solution.
Thanks!

In reply to: how to limit number of images in wordpress galleryThe issue is a loading one, based upon bandwidth. The background has no size to slow down, so it will load faster. You can choose exactly which images you wish to include or exclude by customizing the gallery shortcode. You can also use the File Gallery WordPress Plugin to manage the images within a gallery on a post. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/file-gallery/
You can also use a script or Plugin that will load the images as the visitor scrolls down the page, speeding up the process. Google uses something like this on Google images.

email is lorelleonwordpress on gmail so thanks!
The “category exports with more than one category” is a reference to the category-2, category-3, category-4, category-495…an export and import issue as I’m finding it in both issues.
I’m thrilled that something is happening, as we’re now totally avoiding the WordPress Import/Export Plugin and doing it in the database, which is not fun with the taxonomy complications. I can’t wait to have it fixed. I so worry about those told how easy it would be to migrate to and from WordPress.com to self-hosted, which is part of what we are doing, and it’s been, seriously, a nightmare and I don’t use that term loosely.
Thanks for the update. I’ve been watching, but we have to move forward and can’t wait.
