Hello Kathy,
Sorry for the delayed response.
Okay, I removed that extra little bit of code. I have turned off all mobile plugins (I haven’t found any I liked so I just stopped using them. Maybe that’s my problem?)
What do you think? Thanks for the thought you’ve put into this.
Hey again.
Got it done with the change you suggested, and it looks nice! Only one problem: It only looks nice when viewed on a computer…Something’s messed up with the spacing when viewed on a mobile device, specifically a phone. The email address isn’t showing completely (and the beginning of the phone info is also incomplete).
I do have a plugin that was working well previously (MobilePress), making the site compatible with mobile devices, but the code change isn’t working well with it…(slight grimace and sigh)
Thank you very much, Kathryn, for giving me what I need… only I’m rather new at this and am not sure how to use it! Specifically, I don’t know how to access the html file for the first of the code changes you suggested. My child theme only has the CSS sheet in it, with the line that pulls in the original code (@import url(“../misty-lake/style.css”);) and then my changes below that.
I can connect to my website using an FTP program, but I’m not sure at that point what to do… or how even to learn what to do!
Your example on cloudup.com is EXACTLY what I would like my contact info to look like!

In reply to: Trying to add padding to gallery imagesThanks for the suggestions; tried both what you pasted and with pixels; still not getting the results to appear. (Also tried things I found on a CSS tutorial. I think what I was calling padding I should have been referring to as margins for the photos – between the photo and the border.) But my problem may be in not having the right name for the id. I don’t know… I’m at a loss.
I’m going to try submitting this request for help properly under its theme name and see if someone familiar with the theme might be able to help.
Anyway, thanks thinking with me about this.
Hi again, Kathryn.
This solved both my problems: I have recreated this page as a page (hadn’t realized it was a post.) I have now been able to set it as full page AND add the photo with the caption.
Thanks much!!

In reply to: [Misty Lake] Image Caption Doesn't ShowThe image I am having trouble with is on the My Story page. (It is of myself and my dog Tucker in China.) I tried deleting it and reinserting it, adding the caption at the Attachment Details screen, but each time though the caption appears when I’m editing the page in the dashboard, it doesn’t load to the website. I tried selecting a smaller size, 80%, to see if that would help; it didn’t.
I checked on other pages; I put a caption under the pug on the Contact page and that worked fine. (I have removed it because I don’t want a caption there.) I’m also able to put captions on the photos in the gallery. It’s just that one page I’m having trouble with. (Funny, there’s another issue with that one page that isn’t working that works fine on the other pages, but that’s another thread.)
Thank you for your response, Kathryn, and for trying to help me figure this out.

In reply to: Choosing Color Values For Grooved BorderI am using Firebug; that’s how I was able to find out what the css was for this. But it doesn’t reveal what’s controlling the second color. The only thing that shows up is what I pasted above. This is where I’m stuck. There must be another way write this style to choose the colors… I think. I’ve been searching CSS tutorials and haven’t found it though.
Great suggestion; thank you!

In reply to: Trying to add padding to gallery imagesWhat I mean is I would like each picture to have a nice little border around it to show it off, just as photos appear in the gallery page of a Twenty Twelve theme, but in the rather simpler Misty Lake theme that I have chosen. I’d like them to have a 5% padding of white around them and then the gray 2 pix border around that.
Sorry I wasn’t clear and thank you for answering!

In reply to: Tab for New Page Doesn't AppearThat’s it! I HAD created a custom menu, and didn’t realize pages don’t get listed to it automatically.
Thank you, WPyogi – you solved my problem. 🙂
Thanks Esmi; I’ve been working through the W3School’s excellent tutorials. From what I’ve been able to pick out, the best order is:
body
headings
paragraphI plan to change my tab style, (hopefully!), and delete unwanted elements, eg search boxes, certain sidebars and so on.
Would I just put those changes below any of the above changes I’ve made on my child theme style sheet?
Many thanks!

In reply to: Why won't my background color change?Nevermind – I found something screwy is happening with the location of my css sheets on my computer and the ftp transfer. I will just change it directly on the website from now on. Thanks anyway.
