George, your links were very helpful. I was able to find the username in the SLQ database, and changed it, but for some reason the password wouldn’t work. It did allow me to send an email, but I didn’t get it (waited probably 10 min). So I dug deeper, and I found the emergency.php script. Followed the directions, and it worked. I’m in! Thanks so much!!!

Oh, and they forgot to give instructions on how to change the home and site url. I contacted them and they sent me directions. I updated the URL, so now it should stay on my own domain.

Seems that the wp-stats-dashboard plugin (not the wordpress.com stats plugin that everyone uses) caused the same problem to occur, though not as serious. Not sure why the original one happened. I keep getting internal server error messages (500 as opposed to 404). Maybe I should contact my domain hosting service, because it started happening on my other blogs hosted by them (with different url’s). Anyhow, I’m satisfied. 🙂

Third one worked like a charm! It’s all there! Thank you so much!!!!

    First one didn’t work.

Second one didn’t work–I got stuck on the “login to you WP admin” part–I can’t access the admin!

Fourth idea didn’t work either–still get the same error message.

So I’m going to try the third one later. Sure, it will only take 10-15 minutes for me, but I need to make lunch right now. Will try after lunch. Stay tuned…

I had the same problem. Solved it with this plugin:

Sigh… I wish it would work like the hit counter I had on a long-since-forgotten website I made a few years ago. I didn’t record hits from my computer, and only recorded hits to the main page, I think, so it was much more accurate in terms of how many people viewed my page. Thanks for the info, though. Good to know exactly what it’s recording.

Here’s what I did. I went to Users > Users & Authors, then clicked Edit under admin. Then I added a name and indicated what it should show for a screen name (my name instead of admin). It changed all my posts. Yay!
