In reply to: link category “before” and “after” not working in 2.0.I found what is overriding the admin choices, it’s a bit of code in wp-includes/links.php and it looks like this:
// Display the category name
echo ' <li id="linkcat-' . $cat['link_category'] . '"><h4>' . $cat['cat_name'] . "</h4>nt<ul>n";My question is this– I can change this here but then the admin thing won’t work anyway. I’d rather fix it. And besides, html code generation shouldn’t be in core, and isn’t, for the most part. I don’t know why this was overlooked. Please, a fix???

In reply to: WP 404 on permalinksUm, Ryan? I’ve got a peculiar question. I installed your Dump_Env thingie and activated it, and the minute I did the permalinks worked fine, at least they do with the date and name based option, if not with a custom blend. Does it hurt anything to keep the plugin active?

In reply to: Permalink / htaccess RC3Well, if the file isn’t writable it will give you the text you need to put into the .htaccess file.
That’s what fixed it for me.
Unfortunately it’s broken again and all that was done was a few things were done in admin. Has ANYONE gotten Permalinks working PERMANENTLY in 2.0?

In reply to: Anyone else hate the new Codex look?Um, was the codex majorly edited??? it seems very very very very . . . sparse.

In reply to: 404s on the Forum?Yeah, and that’s on top of the codex content being gutted. And I mean gutted. I couldn’t find anything I needed, and I KNOW it used to be there. In clear language. So anyone could understand. Instead of language only WP devs would get.

In reply to: Permalink / htaccess RC3I just had a problem with permalinks in a new install of 2.0. I had chmodded the .htaccess and let WP update that– and the permalinks didn’t work. Tried a couple things, like getting rid of the category, which I know was problematical in the past, but that didn’t work. So I restricted the chmod on .htaccess, did the permalink thing again, then MANUALLY edited the .htaccess file, being careful to make sure there wasn’t any trailing whitespace — and the problem was fixed.

In reply to: Using Advertisements within textAnd make sure to specify a width for the floating div so Opera and FF play nice with it.

In reply to: Importing TypePad/MT into 2.0You’re right, it’s still RC3.
I tried to access using that url (or the right version of it, I should say) but though it pulled up the wp admin window, there was nothing happening.
Any suggestions as to how I can get that working without waiting for Yahoo? I’d be a hero if I could get this migration done before tomorrow.

In reply to: Permalinks created but 404Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Permalinks created but 404There have been problems with %category% in permalinks, I think if you run a search on this you might find the answer. I think you might also search on http://boren.nu since I seem to remember some plugins there to deal with this issue- and that’s version 1.5.X, all of it.
And I just have to ask, since it’s a mistake that CAN cause this- the .htaccess you’re modifying is the one in the WP root folder, right? Probably is since you’ve done this before, but it was worth mentioning.
If you’re using 2.0 I have no clue.

In reply to: Problem With Text Not Wrapping Around ImagesNope. Just defining it in the image tag is fine. But it has to be defined SOMEWHERE, either css or html, if it’s gonna be floated. Besides, Firefox behaves better with images in layouts if image dimensions are defined, you don’t get all that jumpy stuff happening as the layout loads.

In reply to: Problem With Text Not Wrapping Around ImagesUm, if you want it to work in all browsers the width IS necessary . . .

In reply to: Pretty Plus Lingerie Blog LaunchedCube has a few tables in the default layout. I’ve left them in since they’re pretty much in places that made sense and were almost semantically correct, though I will eventually get around to pulling the forms out of tables, like when I do this for my own site. Most of the pages don’t have them.
I’d be curious which WP shopping cart plug you used . . . for some sites with only a few products that might be sufficient. Feel free to take this off forum – bj at kickasswebdesign dot com
Oh, and if you could take a peek at http://prettypluslingerie.co.uk/news/ again and let me know if 800X600 is now behaving . . .

um, say exactly what I was thinking? Only was too polite to say? Though I’d want a ’59 Cad swoop coupe, in perfect condition, a castle on the coast of Spain, and a bevy of boytoys . . .
