In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Buttons don't workHi fbcclinton,
When you click on the buttons, does nothing happen? I’ve not seen this problem before. What browser are you using? And if you have another one available, is the problem the same in both?
If so, please try also the test page and see if the issue happens to you there.
I also recommend you clear your browser cache/temporary internet files, just to be sure you’re starting with a clean slate.
Let me know what you find out and I’ll help further if I can.
Kevin
That’s a bit of a low blow, a 25MB file is excessive for online use by any standard and that isn’t any fault of this plugin. Feel free to use whatever solution you wish, but that doesn’t mean this plugin is defective.
Hi there,
I sent you a reply via email already, but just to follow up, the document you were using works correctly for me in Chrome and I suggest clearing browser cache.

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Embedded linkIf you mean are hyperlinks clickable in the embedded document, then yes:

If I’ve misunderstood the question, please let me know.
Your PDF contains a large number of images. You should optimize it for web before saving to reduce file size. Take a look at this, or several similar links on the web for help:

Hi cmaneering,
I tried opening the source file (PPTX) itself in PowerPoint, but it prompted me for a password. That would be my first idea of what the issue is. Not sure if your PPS suffers from the same fate, though.
Alternatively try to save the file as PPT as some Office 2007+ format files are a bit wonky at the moment in Google’s viewer.
Hope that helps.
There are no known issues with the plugin in Chrome, except for the common usage problems people can run into when they don’t completely understand how it works (see Notes).
If you are running into any other issue in Chrome, then give some information or file a support ticket. Vague mentions without any specifics can’t be helped, due to poor mind reading skills on my part π

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Fillable PDF FormsIcklem,
In order to display the document without a PDF plugin, the form is rendered as an image with some overlay for text selection, etc. As such Google Docs Viewer (which my plugin is based on) does not support fillable PDF forms. You’ll still need a capable PDF reader for that. Sorry.

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Open document formatThe full viewer (as available only within Google Drive) allows export to ODF, but doesn’t support viewing ODF files. So it seems rather intentional. Perhaps only because the format is not very widely used, since OpenOffice and its variants can save natively to supported Word formats? In any case, it’s regrettable, but that’s the current status of ODF support.

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Open document formatUnfortunately, no. At its core the plugin is a wrapper/extension of Google Docs Viewer (hence the name) which does not support ODF at this time. If it ever does, the plugin will be extended to support it as well.
URL?
Use the support form (footer of settings page) if it’s private.

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Open to Specific Pagepxlar8,
Thanks for pointing out that thread. I had the first code in the plugin already but never documented it, as mentioned in that thread, it does not work for some reason. I’ll be sure to integrate this in the next version!
This is the way Google’s viewer works, though I’m experimenting with alternative ways of implementing the viewer. Thanks for the feedback.
Users do not need to be logged in to see documents, nor do they need to have a Google account at all. However, if they DO have a Google account, they must either be logged in or fully logged out of it. A “stale” or timed out login may cause problems, as you’ve noticed. See Notes #6.
Unfortunately as the cookies are client-side and not based on the user’s domain, I can’t control them. I’m sure people wouldn’t want the document viewer to log them out of their Google account anyway, and there’s certainly no way I can force the plugin to log them in. This is a technical limitation of Google’s viewer beyond my control. Sorry about that…
Thanks for the kind remarks. This is exactly what I have planned for the next version. The problem that arose is that the settings page has become unwieldy and disorganized, as additional choices are added. So I have had to refactor the page to allow for more expansion while (hopefully) not adding more confusion. This work is all planned out and started, but takes some time (especially with regular life demands like work and family!). I hope to be able to offer this functionality in the next couple of months.
If you’re especially interested in this feature, be sure that beta notification is still turned on (as it is by default) as the next release will require several beta releases. The changes have been very extensive as I’ve gotten better at programming since the initial release. π
Thanks for your patience!
Kevin
