vickyt,
Are you talking about the (default gray) space between the page image and the edges of the viewer frame? Or the page border itself (which is only 1px so I doubt this…)?
This is the standard appearance of Google’s viewer, which my plugin embeds. I have an experimental treatment that removes most or all of both of these elements, but it’s not ready for public use. I hope to include the ability to lessen/remove this in a future version.

Please completely clear your browser cache and give it another try. I was able to load that URL normally in FF 15.

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Not working on iPadDave,
I’m sorry for the trouble you’re having, and I don’t doubt there’s some issue at play, but it doesn’t appear to be with the plugin. There will either be a viewer or an error in every circumstance unless something else is interfering.
I was able to borrow an iPad (2) for a moment and snapped a photo of the document in question appearing just fine on it:

If you haven’t cleared your browser cache already, that’s a good thing to try in cases like these where you’re having local issues. The other possibility is that browser settings or plugins are blocking iframe support, or the docs.google.com domain, or something to that effect.
Wish I could be more help, but what you’re describing isn’t behavior from my plugin, and it does appear to “just work” from here on the link you’ve provided.
Thanks,

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Not working on iPadHi Dave,
In GDE Settings > Advanced Options > Plugin Behavior, check the box that says “Display error messages inline (not hidden)” and save the settings. This will make any error messages display on the page instead of being hidden in the source (which is very hard to get to on an ipad…). Let me know what comes of it.
The download link appears to be turned off on that page, so it’s not visible on any browser. (Or perhaps, it’s set to logged in users only, which I am obviously not.)
Thanks,

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Not working on iPadThe plugin doesn’t use Flash in any way, on any platform. I don’t own an iPad, but it works on other webkit browsers (including Safari) and worked on an iPad last time I had an opportunity to try.
You’ll have to describe the problem a bit for further ideas, but in short there are no known issues with iPad.
Kevin
No problem, I’m glad that solved it.
I tested the link you gave in the lastest versions of IE, Firefox, and Chrome for Windows 7 and found all displayed the PDF as expected.
Please completely clear your browser cache using this method and see if your issue is resolved. If not, it may be a network delay or another local issue that is not affecting the internet at large.
The note from “johnwalter” is unrelated spam comment, but for anyone else who lands here dealing with PPS issue, support for PPS files was restored in 2.4.4 and later versions of this plugin.

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] [Plugin: Google Doc Embedder] Document TitleThanks for the clarification. While uppercase letters aren’t generally an issue, spaces are. I agree this isn’t as nice as it could be. I’ll look into adding this option in a future version. Thanks for the suggestion!
No problem. Weird things happen sometimes π
Joshua,
The link you’ve used to the PDF does not seem to work:
Ensure the file actually exists at that location, then we can see if there’s anything else going on.
Kevin
Without knowing what document you’re working with, I can suggest you go to GDE Settings and under “Advanced Options” check the box to bypass internal error checking. This may “just work” or reveal another, more useful error from Google Viewer.
You can set in the shortcode as pdclark mentioned, or globally set a default size (in pixels or percentage) in GDE Settings.
I should have made it clearer that the issue was with the way the original PDF was being created, not necessarily with the site they were posted on. Glad you got it sorted.
