In reply to: Akismet ConfigurationWP-SpamFree — WordPress settings:
Allow users behind proxy servers to comment?
Most users should leave this unchecked. Many human spammers hide behind proxies.WP-SpamFree — WordPress

In reply to: Setting up static home page with blog behindI thought there was an easy way to make a static home page now. Is this the only way to do it? Is this the way WordPress is designed to work if you want a static home page?

In reply to: How do I prevent RSS feed from timing out?I am receiving this error message too: An error occurred connecting to the URL: Read timed out
So you are saying it maybe one of my WordPress Plugins messing with Feedburner? So I need to deactive all the plugins then make changes to my Feedburner account then go reactive my plugins?
I don’t have the “Yet another related post” plugin and haven’t a clue which plugin I do have active that may be causing this trouble.
Error: An error occurred connecting to the URL: Read timed out
I keep getting this error too and cannot make any changes/additions to my feedburner settings. I don’t know where to go from here to seek help!

In reply to: Suggestions on Hosting CompaniesI too am considering if I need a new host for my WordPress site. It is not a huge site and it doesn’t get tons of traffic, but I keep running into trouble with high CPU usage that WordPress and/or its plugins seems to use.
A few questions…
1. Have you found WordPress and/or the WordPress plugins to be a CPU hog?
2. What is the normal amount of CPU usage to look for when choosing a host for a WordPress site?
3. What have you found to be the normal CPU usage for most WordPress sites?
4. Do you have any clue as to which WordPress plugins use the most CPUs?
I have a shared host account with 4.5% CPU usage, but my WordPress site keeps using more than this amount. I use to recommend WordPress to people wanting to start a new website, but now I am wondering it they too will run in to the same problem with high CPU usage.

In reply to: newbie proof redirectionYour not along, Jon, I am lost too. I need help figuring out how to do the following with ‘redirection’ and ‘regular expressions’…
OK, I still am looking for help with this regular expressions stuff! I tried to set up a regular expressions with a code sample posted on the plugin page, but cannot get it to work. Has any had success with using Regular expressions with the redirection plugin? Would you be willing to help others that cannot seem to figure this out? HELP!
Here is the regular expression code I tried: /blog/(.*) => /$1
I had a blog set up like this: http://domainname.com/blog/
and not is it set up like this: http://domainname.com/So what regular expression code do I need for this?

In reply to: Regular expressions with redirection pluginI have The Redirection plugin for WordPress. I just don’t know how to use ‘Regular Expressions’ with it. Anyone know the basic ‘Regular Expressions’ that would be useful for working with redirects in WordPress. Like removing the dates in the URL or changing a category name?

In reply to: Google Sitemaps and WordPress 2.3 (Please help testing)I am getting this error message on the page where my site map should be http://alove4horses.com/blog/sitemap.xml:
Error loading stylesheet: A network error occured loading an XSLT stylesheet:http://alove4horses.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/sitemap.xsl
I have WordPress 2.3.2 and just installed the XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress 3.0.3 plugin. So it still has bugs I guess. Is anyone getting it to work with WP 2.3.2? What is the work around?
