Your description of the “Close Window” button, duplicated buttons and raw php being displayed is leading me to think there is something very wrong with the installed PHP services on your web hosting.

What version of PHP is installed right now. Is it possible since your web host moved recently that there are some issues with PHP.

Also look for your php error log. It can help run down what is happening.

It literally sounds like PHP is crashing/restarting during use of the plugin. I have never seen this or heard of it happening before on any web host.

I would even go as far as deleting the entire plugin and re-installing from the wordpress repo.

Due to no response I am marking this resolved

You are seeing only errorlog.php because your in the wrong folder

    you are looking in
    /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-ez-backup/functions/logs

    you need to look in
    /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-ez-backup/logs

If you installed EZ Backup right from wordpress repo then you have all files in the right location.

I suggest disabling ALL plugins and then re-enable one by one and see which one triggers the Error 500

I really wish WordPress would send e-mails when people post about a plugin.

    @nickr753
If your seeing that error I suspect you saw other errors within the plugin as well.

Go to the settings page ensure all settings are correct and click Save settings. Then try the backup again.

Also be sure that backup.sh and functions.sh are set to 700.

The paths I gave you are where the files should be located. If your missing those files then your error is not with the plugin itself it is with the install of the plugin.

You are using WordPress EZ Backup right. Not some other plugin?

    wp-content/plugins/wordpress-ez-backup/functions/routine/backup.sh
    wp-content/plugins/wordpress-ez-backup/functions/routine/functions.sh
    wp-content/plugins/wordpress-ez-backup/logs/errorlog.txt
    wp-content/plugins/wordpress-ez-backup/logs/log.txt

I have never had EZ Backup generate a 500 internal error before.

Be sure the following files are set properly on permissions.

    functions/routine/backup.sh
    functions/routine/functions.sh
    logs/errorlog.txt
    logs/log.txt
should be 700 and your webserver user/group should have access to those files

Let me know what happens. Also be sure your on the latest version of EZ Backup.

Apologies for the Delay in my response.

Can you check the actual error log in the plugin. See if it says anything specific in there as well.

I have never seen a 502 error on the backupstats.php file. that is very strange.

502 usually indicates a network error. Backupstats.php runs on your server it does not communicate outside. Its possible this was an error that occurred with your internet connection during that attempt.

Do you still have this error? also be sure your on the latest version of EZ Backup. I have installed it on about 5 different sites this week alone all without any issues.

You can set permissions to 700 if you want to lock the file down even further.

Whatever you do just make sure all files you adjust permission on are not view-able by the public. Some files contain information about your Database and WP Install.

Strange its saying the script is being denied access to the functions.sh file.

Please make sure that file is under proper owner and permissions. Permissions should be set to 640 – Owner and Group access only not public access.

Addons are only able to be activated per site they are purchased. Addons are licensed to single sites.

There are instructions in the plugin itself. In the readme file and my e-mail address is listed in many places within the plugin.

Please follow the on screen instructions for creating backups.

    Bernhard,

Can you post Screenshots of the “Settings” page & a screenshot of the “Create A Backup” page.

The only thing I can think of is that for some reason the variable did not save properly on your site for the folder that its supposed to archive (“Currently Archiving”)

“Currently Archiving” should indeed be your full path to the folder or full site

ex: Currently Archiving: /aaa/bbb/ccc/wp-content for content only
    or
ex: ex: Currently Archiving: /aaa/bbb/ccc for full site

I also just did a clean install of WordPress EZ Backup 7.0.4 on a MU site and the paths were gathered correctly.

On a MU Site the root path will be the same for each site since they are all under one path. Backing up wp-content only will of course backup every site in that MU install due to how WP stores each site. Same effect as backing up the full site etc.

If you would like I can use FTP and see exactly what is going on with your site. That is entirely up to you. If you wish to let me take a look please e-mail me your information

I just installed a new version of WP on site and downloaded EZ Backup 7.0.4 for testing right from extend.

No errors occurred and it ran a backup properly.

Also note in the “Message Center” under your settings page is a notice that version 7.0.4 should be deactivated then reactivated and you should also re-save your settings just to ensure all the paths and code changes are properly in place.

From version 7.0.4 up that should not be required as I have put in place a upgrade check routine that would ensure any future changes are done automatically. There are still some people behind in versions that would be required to do it by hand.

I hope that resolves your issue. If not please feel free to contact me again I would be glad to take a look and see whats causing issues with your web hosting configuration.

    Try this

Deactivate the plugin and reactivate it. Then be sure to re-save your settings. In between those versions were some changes to the paths and storage of those paths.

    let me know what happens

    Trishahdee,

I am glad to see 6.0.9 working great on the subdomains. That version should work for subfolders and subdomain installs.

The cron scheduling addon was re-written before the release of 6.0.9 to be a much more reliable and more flexible tool then it was before. That is the reason for the price being adjusted.

The cron addon is much more flexible then the built in scheduling wordpress offers.

But if you want I will sell it to you at 10.00 for your client.
If you donate 10.00 using the donate option I will enable the Cron addon for your clients site.
