Hi @lukedouglas,
As a temporary solution you can switch back to PHP 7.4 to see if that resolves the problem.
We have created an issue report for our dev team. Usually, this sort of issues are highly prioritized so you can expect it to get resolved in the upcoming NGG update.
Sorry for the inconveniences created,

Oh, I see. One of the lightboxes comes from the theme itself. You may want to check with the theme support to see how that one can be dsabled.
I’d also check with the hosting to ensure there’s enough disk space on server for the images uploading.
Hi @sandalsand,
Thanks for the details. This is an odd behavior. Normally, the gallery slug shouldn’t change unless changing the gallery’s Title and the dash would normally replace a space ( meaning that you’d get
test-1as slug for a gallery namedTest 1.We hope that you wouldn’t mind reaching our support team directly at https://www.imagely.com/report-bug/ so we could have a closer look at the problem.
Hi @asm08,
That’s correct. Both NGG’s SimpleLightbox and Fancybox will trigger once clicking on a thumbnail so you may want to deactivate Easy Fancybox plugin or deactivate NGG’s lightbox from
"NextGen Gallery -> Other Options -> Lightbox Effects"by selecting"None"for"What lightbox would you like to use?"then press"Save Options"Hi @shanemarsh28,
We are not aware of such issues after upgrading to v3.24. Could you please check for a conflict by temporarily deactivating the plugins excepting NextGen Gallery to see perhaps there’s a conflict between any of them and the latest version of NGG?
Hi @ianmcgarry,
Could you please try uploading images to WP Media to see if that’ll work? Please let us know.
Hi @cheryls,
It shouldn’t. The lightboxes that are part of NextGen Gallery ( free ) can only display images from the current gallery’s page.
Hi @sandalsand,
There’s only possible to toggle between using dashesor underscores for the already existing names within “NextGen Gallery -> Other Options -> Miscellaneous -> Use dashes instead of underscores when generating new image files”
Hi @cheryls,
Your site parallelly uses Elementor’s lightbox and both these lightboxes open the image when clicking on any of the thumbnails. You can deactivate Elementor’s lightbox: https://elementor.com/help/lightbox/ and that’s going to fix the problem for you.

Hi @s-i-r-o,
Let’s try adding the gallery preview images new for each of your gallery to see if that’ll resolve the problem. Looks like an issue when NGG cannot find the path of the preview image as a result of it being removed from the gallery.

Hi @s-i-r-o,
Thanks for giving that a try. Ref the page’s link – that surely look correct as you are loading the gallery’s images on a page and you a not accessing the gallery’s folder directly ( this being server-side restricted due to the security reasons ).
Could you please let us know if the thumbnails and full-size images are loading fine while accessing the gallery within
"Dashboard -> NextGen Gallery -> Manage Galleries"?Thanks for your nice feedback! 🙂

Let’s try clearing the image cache from
"NextGen Gallery -> Other Options -> Image Options -> Miscellaneous"then check again to see if that’ll resolve the problem.
