I recommend that you look at the theme’s demo: https://demo.ilovewp.com/edupress/
It runs on the latest version of WordPress (5.5.3 at the time of writing this).
If you see something in the demo – it is available in the theme.If some widgets disappear after the update, it is possible that you simply have to re-order or re-add them after the update.

If it’s working in one browser and not in another, then it is most likely a caching issue.

You have made an incorrect assumption.
EduPress is fully compatible with 5.5.3.What you saw was probably the result of some cached files in your browser. Doing a forced refresh usually helps (CTRL + R).
But without actually seeing the website or some screenshots, it is difficult to guess what really happened with your update.

1. I wouldn’t call this “an issue”. It’s not an issue that has to be fixed in the theme, it’s just that you want something to match your desired colors.
You can customize all colors via CSS.
By default the theme doesn’t have any pink hues.
This is the default code for the menu’s :active color:.large-nav a:hover, .large-nav a:focus, .large-nav .current-menu-item>a, .large-nav .current_page_item>a, .large-nav .current-menu-parent>a { color: #bf793b; }#bf793b is gold-ish, far from pink, unless you have some other custom CSS code overwriting the theme’s defaults.
2. The theme does not create, manage or alter menus.
The menus are created on the core WordPress Appearance > Menus page.
The theme only displays what you create there.If you are not familiar with how WordPress menus work, I recommend that you watch this video: https://youtu.be/35QI9MHzrL8

I see that you have made customizations directly to the style.css file included with the theme. It is possible that you have also made some changes that would affect the slider?When did this issue first appear?

As for your issue, the theme doesn’t control external apps, nor does it do anything different from other WordPress themes.
