In reply to: Download help“Could someone please get that .zip file fixed?”
There’s nothing wrong with the zip file. I’ve just tested the download and the file extracts fine. It appears to be an IE bug. Try right clicking on the link and choosing “Save as”.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Sidebar: Show latest posts only if not on homepageSiewe,
That looks fine.BTW, don’t worry about experimenting. If it works, then good. If it doesn’t, then you can just revert things back and have another look at things.
You can learn as much from making your mistakes as you can from listening to others.

In reply to: theme-switcher problemsThis Codex Page should tell you what to do. Of course, you could have just done a search and found this out yourself.

In reply to: Please review (interesting topic)…“Why do you disagree about the topic?”
The thread title states “interesting topic”. It’s not.BTW, this really ought to have been posted to the “Your WordPress” forum. Don’t suppose you fancy moving it, do you Podz?
[Update: Looks like the same thread has already been posted to the Your WP forum]
“Could they have came in with the template?”
Could be. What template are you using?Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: i seems like a bug in comment page..Moshu is completely write in the sense that your test was artificial.
However, this is a template problem of sorts in the sense that it can be “fixed” by a simple bit of CSS:
Add the following to your style.css and you should find that long running lines are captured in a scroll panel.
p{
width:100%;
overflow:auto;

In reply to: mysteriously self-publicizing RSS feedsUnder options-> writing, there is a textfield which contains a list of services which are automatically pinged when an entry is posted.
Pingomatic should be in that list which, when alerted, will notify the other publication sites.
If you don’t want these sites to be alerted, clear the whole box.

In reply to: Reviews and OpinionsI like what you’ve done with the header logo. The contrast and the minimalist look gives it a nice clean look especially when combined with the site header text.
Elsewhere, the site is missing something. Injecting a bit of colour in the side bar was an interesting idea but it wasn’t quite pulled off successfully.
No rendering problems in IE or FF and the whole thing validates successfully. It’s a nice first attempt and looks like a good base to work from.

In reply to: Grand Opening of johnenriquez.comNice, minimalist design especially with the photolog.
The light background makes the text a little hard to read in the blog though, but the lack of a header as well as the single post per page nicely emphasises the writing in each entry.
Good job.
BTW, not sure if this lies outside of what you wanted to be assessed but IMHO, you’ve overdone the vivid glow effect with the photos and makes them all look like wedding photo’s.
It’s a shame as they would look better untouched i.e. without any photoshop manipulation.

In reply to: Review my Blog….Be patient… 6 hours is far too soon to be complaining about lack of comments.
Anyways, back to the design. It appears to be little more than the generic Blix theme with a different header. I can see that you chose the theme because the colours fit quite closely with the the headerlogo (Indian flag) but I’d be tempted to see what you can do to make it stand out from all the other Blix themed sites.
The ad’s (in particular the casino ads) are also distracting and clash with the content of the site.

In reply to: My New DesignThe top header/nav bar is a little lacking; The background clashes with the overlayed text and the lack of contrast makes the navigation links a bit hard to read.
I’d also be tempted to make it wider so that it’s at least as wide as the content&sidebar. Nice idea though.

In reply to: GeekTavern.comThe site is far too cluttered with ads; There are 15(!) distinct ad sections. In addition, the header logo has that 1994 3d glow feel to it which is perhaps not the look that you’re going for.
It’s a shame as the site has potential; I’d suggest having a look at how engadget and gizmodo have successfully tapped into the tech news market.
