And like I said, the infrastructure is now in place to update the other components easily. Before I could see where one-update-for-all was the most efficient way to go … but that is no longer the case … IMHO ..

Um … do you know if this will be something that will be incorporated into 2.9.1 (whenever that is) or will I have to keep installing these patches (or patches to the patches) after every WP update?

In reply to: Can’t add tags suddenlyI just had this problem after I updated from 2.8 to 2.8.1 .. after wasting a morning, I discovered that the problem was a slightly corrupt “wp_terms” table (or whatever prefix you may be using) ..
Logging into phpMyAdmin, selecting the table, clicking the “Operations” tab up top, and then clicking “Repair Table” .. fixed the whole thing .. took about 10 seconds .. after wasting the morning that is.
If you don’t use phpMyAdmin to manage your MySQL database, whatever you use should have a similar function .. or you can get all down and dirty by going through your terminal app with a “repair table TABLENAME” command.

In reply to: New 2.5.1 install – Blank DashboardAt this point, I’m pretty sure this is a server-side issue, and not a WP/install issue. As a control, I did the same upload on a different server system .. and 2.5.1 took to it like a champ ..
So .. now we just have to go digging through the server ..
I already know it meets the MySQL and PHP version requirements, so that’s knocked off the list. I also ran into a note about making sure enough memory is allocated to the php.ini file .. that’s good too .. so I guess it’s needle-in-a-haystack time. If I ever find out I’ll post it here in case some other poor schmoe runs into this problem.
Of course, if there’s a poor schmoe out there who’s been through this .. please reply.

In reply to: New 2.5.1 install – Blank DashboardMore checking .. seems this is NOT a 2.5.x issue .. tried downgrading to 2.3.3 and even 2.2.3 .. and still the same issue .. everything works .. EXCEPT all I get is blanks in the Dashboard (and the wp-admin area overall)
Anyone have any idea of what can be going on?

In reply to: New 2.5.1 install – Blank DashboardThanks .. but again .. mine is a fresh install (totally virgin – just the ‘official’ package) .. no third-party plug-ins .. but I did think to try removing the default hello and akismet plug-ins .. just to see if it’s an overall plug-in issue .. still didn’t work ..
