  • it’s all or n0thing: when the password protection isn’t w0rking right (i.e. you type in password and it merely refreshes the homepage), then the edit link doesn’t show for me, regardless of the fact i’m signed it. when the edit button is showing, my password posts work correctly. and i have no idea what’s happening, as in i’ve deleted my install files and reinstalled. i had it working right for a few hours and it quit a couple of days ago, and i d0n’t have any idea what i’ve done…

do you have problems with your edit button as well on the posts? both of these seem not to work for me, but always at the same time. i keep looking back here for info because i use the protected post feature.

i love the image browser plugin, as it does just exactly what i’d wanted wordpress to do on it’s own, i.e. give me a thumbnail linked to picture code, and has the added benefit of easily letting you reuse pix you’ve already uploaded.
i love the smilies plugin because i can never remember all those codes.
and i love the style-switcher, becuase it makes it easy for me to change the look of the site as my mood fits and my readers can set it to what they like, and there are some beautiful styles!

well i’m not knowledgable enough about the programming end to help you…you’ll probably have to do quite a bit of research on your own to exend it that much…but if you need multiple select, you want checkboxes, not radio buttons. radio buttons only let you select one at a time.

zarn- thank you SO MUCH for this plugin. it’s exactly what i needed and i’m DELIGHTED with it. i hope they make it part of the package, or some form of it. very nice!

i hav been having this problem, too. if you log out and log back on, you can finsih what you’re doing. or at least i can. mildly annoying, but not unworkable. i get it when activating plugins and working on links. i downloaded the csv to try and eliminate it, but it’s still there, although a bit better now.

i do have this working in the csv i installed from last night. i would check the plugin page code again. i had a few i had trouble with because i’d saved the page “as” instead of copying the code to a clean php page, where ie tried to outsmart me for how i wanted things. the directions, though, worked fine and i put the smiley code in the quicktags.php page…nice little plugin! (i love the style switcher, too. too cool!)

both of them are out there, the old one and the 1.2 one which confused me at first too. if you go back to alex’s software page and select the 1.2 plugin option list, i am pretty sure that will give you the correct version. check the readme file for references to plugins, which is how you’ll know you have the right one.

normally that will show up when you have a blank line at the beginning of your code. pull up the stye-switcher page and make sure there are no blank lines at the beginning or ending of your php code.

incidently, having the friendly permalinks is helpful for search engines, in that most se algorhythms do give words in the uri extra weight. there are many, many factors, but that is definitely one. whether or not you choose to use the words or not, of course, is a personal choice. i like them because they are more descriptive and more attractive, and i don’t feel like my readers need to think about the query string.

i reverted back. if anybody else has (and solves!) a problem where they upload the new version but the upgrade.php won’t run, please post your solution.

oh yeah: after i tried to manually modify the tables, and tried deleting cookies as was suggested elsewhere with no luck, i went back to my original table set because it’s clear there’s something i’m missing that upgrade.php needs to do to get me in. i’m not helpless but i’m not a hardcore coder, either…
