Try reaching out to your webhost and let them know about the issue. If you’re using the correct settings provided by Fastmail, the problem may be that the server you’re hosted on isn’t allowing the connection. More hosts these days are starting to block third-party SMTP requests. If your host is doing that, it means their server is stopping you from reaching Fastmail.

Currently, our plugin does not have a way to slow down the sending rate. Once your site creates an email, our plugin immediately tries to hand it off to the mailer. I do agree it would be super helpful, though, to have such a feature. I’ve noted the feature request and we’ll keep it on our radar as we plan out our roadmap for the future.
I apologize again that we can’t provide what you’re looking for right now, but I appreciate the suggestion! It’s always helpful to get insights from our users.

The WP Mail SMTP plugin doesn’t use any specific TLS version to connect with your email server. TLS is a protocol used to establish a secure connection between servers. This means that when you select TLS in the settings of our plugin, it just lets the server know that it wants to use TLS encryptionΒ and it’s up to the server to use a specific version of it.
You can check with your hosting support team to find out which version of TLS is available. It’s likely that they will already have a newer version available, but they should be able to confirm. You’ll want to pass over that screenshot to them so they can check it out as well.

It sounds like you’re able to connect to your SMTP server without any issues. That’s why you’re getting the success message in our plugin. If you’re not receiving an email after that, you’ll need to check with your SMTP provider so they can look into this. The message is being successfully passed over to them, but if it’s not landing in your email, they should be able to check to find out what happens to it once it gets to their server.
