It’s very sad to know that you’re disappointed with the BookingPress. I’ve checked all the points you have mentioned and it seems that they are related to the premium version of the BookingPress.
Your review is acceptable at wordpress.org but for technical help regarding the premium version, we already have a dedicated support team for the paid version, I would highly recommend you open a support ticket there and our team will assist you in resolving your concerns as soon as possible. However, you have raised the issue publicly, let me assist you with basic information.
Regarding Stripe popup close button, it’s prevented by Stripe itself. And everything is accordingly to Stripe standard and if you still not happy, please give your suggestion to our idea board.
Regarding currency issue, it’s already been fixed and update will be coming out soon.
Regarding staff holidays displays in calendar, please give your suggestion to our idea board.
Regarding custom duration, to set price per unit is already there, so please contact us from our official support for more assistance.

ARMember does follow the WordPress standards and accordingly syncs with the WordPress users and their role.
The role will be assigned to the member which you have added at the ARMember Lite Plan creation, and also the member will have the role which you have set at the Admin Panel -> General Settings -> New user default role.
So once the plan expires then the role which is assigned through the plan will also be removed and the member will have the default role as set at the WordPress settings.
Regarding the “downgrade action” then please note that the upgrade/downgrade facility is as per the action taken from the front-end, ARMember does provide a facility to set the action on the “Action on Failed Payment” so once the payment gets failed then you can set the access for the members so that accordingly the member will get the access to the plan

As per your request it seems that you are willing to allow the members to first register and then make a payment for the plan, if so then you can create a simple register form wherein members can create an account and then from the ARMember Lite -> General Settings -> Redirection Rules, here you can select the plan purchase page at the “After Basic SignUp Redirection Rules”.
So now when the members register then they will be redirected to the plan purchase page and here the members can select the plan and make a payment as per your requirements.
Note: The redirection will be possible if you have kept the new user approval as “Automatic Approve” from ARMember Lite -> General Settings -> New user approval.
