The issue is resolved. There is a setting in the back end under Visual Effects > sizes and margens for changing the space between the header and the top of the page. The problem was that it CAN NOT be set to 0 it has to be set to at least 1 to make a change.

This template is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I have never seen a template with so many backend options that eliminate having to do everything in code or css. Thank you!Thank I’m sorry for the incorrect posting I actually want to remove the space between the top menu and the header. When the top menu is visible there is a space between the two, When the top menu is not visible there is a space between the header and the top of the page. That is the space I want to remove.
