Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Static Front PageI created a page.php page and pasted in the contents from the index.php file. It seemed to work, in part, in that the blog postings are listed there as they normally would be without the static page.
The problem comes in when I click on the “pages” I created. I get the following error message:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected ‘>’ in /home/atlantah/public_html/wp-content/themes/devenir_en_gris/page.php on line 7
Any ideas of what I can do to fix this?
Thanks!

In reply to: Static Front PageHow can my individual blog posts be displayed then – as it would if I were not using home.php?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Static Front PageI followed the directions stated in this thread to create a static front page using the home.php page. It worked great, however, I now want to link from the static front page to the index.php, where all of the blog postings will be.
I created the link http://www.domain.com/index.php – but the page just redirects to the home.php page on its own.
Can anyone assist me with this?

In reply to: Updating from ver. 2.1Yes, I meant 1.2.
I typically use Fantastico to install or upgrade WP – but that always has the latest version. Would things backfire if I just used that to do the upgrade? If so, how do I upgrade in stages?

In reply to: Another Spam Comment QuestionI just fixed it completely by just DELETING the “php
global $comment” code in the sidebar.php file. So now I have it that NO comments are showing in my sidebar at all, which is fine by me.Thanks for your assistance.

In reply to: Upgrade from 1.2 to 2.02 – permissions gone?In my case, the 2.02 version in already installed for this blog.

In reply to: I want the 1.5 version of WPI totally hate the html pop-up box. Any code that I put in there is modified to include extra misc. code – and it takes me way too long to fix it to what I want. I liked it FAR better when I could add or not add code directly in the “post” box – and get the final post to look EXACTLY like I want without fanfare.
This updated version has been pulling my hair out!!

In reply to: Sidebar shows different in IE vs. FirefoxThanks for your response, but having a challenge figuring out your suggested solution.
I have another blog that has the same size banner in the content area, but it is not showing any problems with the sidebar content in IE (see http://www.no-cost-gifts.com).
The only difference between the 2 blogs is the content I have added in my header template, but the size of that content is not wider than the “container” div as far as I can tell.
Any other thoughts?
