Ah, I see.
Well, that description is given by Stripe, it’s not set by s2Member. s2 gives Stripe the description, but it’s not using it there. You see it if you go to the Subscriptions page (under Customers in your Stripe Dashboard), there is used the one s2 gives.
s2 doesn’t make the charge, s2 creates the subscription, and then Stripe manages the rest. That charge is made by Stripe after having the subscription created. The first one gets that description, following ones have the invoice’s number.
I hope that makes sense…
I see that if you go to the page for that payment (click on the payment on your list), that description can be edited, it’s under the section Payment Details. But this won’t stop the new ones from getting the same default description.
I will get in touch with the Stripe guys, to see if they can suggest something that could be done to change that first payment’s description.
🙂
Very interesting! That’s the order I’ve always seen them in and use them myself, but it shouldn’t be a problem to put them the other way around, though.
I will look into that. But I’m glad you got it working on your page. 🙂
Hi @julmasters
I have a test page with those together and no problem. What release version of s2Member are you using?
🙂
Hi @julmasters
You can change the description from the s2Member shortcode, the desc attribute, for you new subscriptions. It seems like the ones at the bottom of your list used it.
I don’t know why the top ones don’t, did you write that for your form’s description? On what page of your Stripe dashboard did you take that screenshot?
🙂
Thank you! I appreciate it.
I agree with your observations, thanks for taking a moment to share them. I think similar about the interface. The plugin itself is actually quite simple in use, but its presentation doesn’t come across that way. I inherited the plugin like this, but before getting into the huge task of changing the whole interface, I needed to work on more important issues. Those have now been taken care of, and I’m finally at the point where I can make these improvements. I hope you can give it a new look in the future. 🙂
Done, I sent you an email with the confirmation.
Again, didn’t mean to make you wait an extra day. I know how tough things are in these times. Banks usually take between 3 to 5 days to put the money back in your account, but I hope they get it done sooner.
Thank you for trying s2Member, though! I really appreciate it. We’re developing the next major version, a rewrite we’ll be releasing in stages. A lot of work will be going in the interface, too. If you have any feedback you’d like to give from your quick tests with it, I’d really appreciate it.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and find the plugin that best suits your project. Wishing you a huge success!
🙂
Hi Richard.
I’m sorry I didn’t get to your email sooner. You sent your emails a bit after I went offline to concentrate on development, and I’m just logging back in now (I was getting ready a couple things for next release, before getting back into forums or email).
I’ll reply your email now with the refund, no problem.
🙂
Hi @tylwilson
If you get that error, then it’s most likely that you can’t load WP Admin… You need to do it via FTP.
You can just upload the missing file, and it’ll take care of it. Download the zip, extract the file in the error, and add it to your s2 folder via FTP. Then reload WP Admin and it should be fine.
s2’s settings won’t be lost, especially if you had the s2 Deletion Safeguards enabled, which is the default. But even if the safeguard was disabled, you’re not deleting s2 via WP’s plugin manager.
I hope that helps. 🙂
Great! 🙂
I’m very glad you could sort it out easily. Good job!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! 🙂
Hi @kingkrab
It was a glitch I had while uploading the new release to the WordPress repository, and although it only lasted a few minutes, I was afraid that someone would have downloaded it… I’m really sorry you got that difficulty.
The upload was incomplete and missed that file, for some reason I don’t understand yet. After the upload, I did a test update and noticed that error message, so found the missing file and fixed the release. It’s complete and working now, I tested.
You can delete the s2Member folder via FTP and reinstall it from WordPress via WP Admin’s plugins manager, or you can leave the folder there and just add via FTP the missing s2member/src/vendor/composer/autoload_static.php file. https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/s2member.201225.zip
I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or need more help.
Hi @consultusho.
Thank you so much for the rating and comments! 🙂
I’m working on an improved interface and updating the articles. What do you mean by adding an installer and what would you like to see? I’d love your thoughts.
Hi @bluiscwb
No, s2Member doesn’t keep track of access to restricted content at the moment. This is something in our plans to add, but no time for it yet. I’m adding your vote for it now.
🙂
Hi Jennifer.
That’s a wordpress behavior, not something added by s2Member.
I googled this for you and found an article that may help you:
🙂
Thank you for the kind review and rating! Very appreciated. 🙂
I’m working on improving those details and many more. I hope you’ll like the coming improvements of s2.
