Thanks for the feedback Rod, I’ll be working on some minor changes this week based on your advice. It’s difficult for me to adapt my idea to a wordpress site, but its a format I am familiar with and enjoy working on.
I think many readers might com in later in the development and I hope they might be interested in backtracking in my posts. The Random button and slider there for other newcomers, who might just be a one-time visit.

Its a bit plain and colorless, I’d recommend adding feature images, even if just used as a thumbnail, alongside your posts on the home page. It will make it look less like a forum and more like a blog.

one thing I’ve seen your type of nomad-travel sites do, is on the “bucketlist” page, they include a hyperlink on crossed-out items to a post about the list item. but looks like a great site!

looks nice, but I can’t read it because of the language, maybe include a translate button for the reader so we don’t have to use Google’s translate services.

interesting concept, looks well made, but incomplete. The “How Our Website Works” page is missing, and I was very interested to read it.

cool site! I can relate to your humor, like something I’d read in The Onion. I think some are better than others, but with time and more practice writing and writing, it will shape up very nicely.

very well done, fresh-looking site. One thing I noticed as a reader, is that all your images are the same size and it seems to disrupt your posts. I’d recommend having one large feature image, and sprinkle smaller images throughout the post, but that’s just my personal preference.

It doesn’t look like it is showing up in my error logs, so I contacted the host service via chat, and after 20 minutes of tinkering around, he was stumped as well. The error he was able to come up with is as follows:

“[Error] Premature end of script headers: admin.php, referer: http://duebyfriday.com/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1&s=

Meaning it is leaning towards coding with the plugin or install of WordPress itself.”

I will try installing wordpress manually, and hopefully that will do the trick or I am not sure how to address this problem, and any help is really appreciated. I really like the Jetpack plugin, and it is always the first thing I install. I’ve never had a problem with it before.

Thanks for the kind words Vicky! I love the idea about the restaurants. Once I build a more solid readership advertising and sponsored posts is something I’m considering, but I only get about 150-200 uniques a day (i used to get up to 700) but I’m on my way back up!

And Odai, I dig the hybrid approach thats the direction I am looking to take my blog, but easier said than done! In the next few weeks I’ll be setting up interviews with local bands, restaurant owners, etc. and throw my own spin on the mix in the form of satire or rant or something of the sort to have something different out there!

    Thanks guys!

Wow Odai, thanks so much for the review. Probably the best one I’ve had and I truly appreciate it! The ads are black because I recently switched to the “grey theme” rather than “dark” and forgot to switch it.
By switching to a lighter theme I actually almost doubled the time of my visitor duration. I think the reason behind it is that the text is a bit easier to read and looks cleaner now.
Also, great tip on the header tags, it looks smaller when its in a draft.
    Glad you enjoyed it!
    Thanks again

Haha well paid ads are always good! as my stats continue to go up I’m looking into my options and poking around, I don’t mean to probe too much but do you mind if I ask what widget or plugin you have the banners in? I’m trying to find something that will work well with my site’s layout.

As for a login button, I’m not sure of anything that will make it’s appearance look any better than the text, I had the same problem, but solved it by taking out the login button completely. To me, it seems unnecessary for a site without multiple contributers. Now to login, I just have to the login url, which is ‘yourdomain’.com/wp-admin
Its not too much of a hassle hope this helps!

I write for Chicago Rants chicagorants.com and looking for similar sites to network with and help eachother build up! Anyone thinking guest-posts and trackbacks? I like your site @ipstenu! Just the kinds of blogs I’m looking for but can’t seem to find.
Right now, it seems like ChicagoNow really holds the market, but I’m not a fan of it and would never move my blog to ChicagoNow.

awesome! looks like you have a solid niche market, and also major props on keeping it going consistently for 6 months! a solid accomplishment. I have a question though, are those paid advertisements on your site? or links to other sites you run? I’m curious to know how much a banner goes for on a page with 2000 visits/month

brutal! I didn’t think it’d actually take all 90 days, but im starting to think it might
