Thank you. I determined another cart would serve my needs better.

Thanks for the feedback. The link you provide is for the WP eStore cart vs. the Simple Paypal Shopping cart. Does the Simple Cart have that same feature?

Unless someone can offer a better solution, here is my work around:
Use the Simple Paypal Shopping Cart for physical purchases, setting Paypal up as instructed for generating sales tax.

On a separate check out page for services, generate a button specific to the service. There is an option to enter zero tax within the button’s settings. Use this on all items without tax.

If there is a better solution, please do let me know!

I’m sorry I did not update my issue with the current status. Here’s the latest snag if you have any ideas:

When I try to modify >Store Settings >Checkout >Checkout Form Fields
I select a form that has been in use, select FILTER to edit it, and the page defaults back to >Store Settings.

I was collecting information in this form that is not in the default checkout form so customers are having to enter it twice (when registering for a workshop).

Any ideas how I can modify the form? I tried creating a new one, but I can’t get into it because it always defaults back to the >Store Settings page.

The other snag is that customers receive this error message:

“Please click the Calculate button to refresh your shipping quotes, as your shipping information has been modified.”

But no Calculate button appears when on the the Product screen the box next to “Product will not be shipped to customer” is checked.

Ideas?

Glad it worked! If your customers are only USA, you could set up shipping as I did on the shipping tab, then the Country will only show USA and customers will not have to scroll through all the other countries to get down to USA. Then on “Products”, edit your product by scrolling down and checking the box “Product will not be shipped”.

These settings are what I use for taking payment for attendance at seminars.

You might have the same issue I had – here is how my calculator problems were resolved:

First off, I only am shipping to USA, so on the Shipping Tab, I have flat rate setting checked and $4 entered for “Continental 48 States”

1. Store>Settings>Taxes “Tax Logic” radio button set to “Apply tax when Shipping Region is the same as Tax Rate”

2. Store>Settings>Checkout – scroll down to “shipping”, grab and slide the “Country” field above the “State” field.

3. For Shipping, make sure Country and State are checked to display.

You might start with those settings just to see if it works that way for you.

So the solution seems to be a simple one: the “Country” as well as “State” must be enabled on the default Checkout form in order for the sales tax and shipping modules to function.

Thanks for working it through with me Justin.

I was hoping to get a reply for these issues to get back up and running. My cart has been down for several days. Am I correct that my best option is to reinstall an older version of WPeC until all the bugs are corrected?

I have tried the very generic settings for WPeC Checkout in hopes of enabling the Flat Rate Shipping option, but have not gotten it to work. On the Checkout page, it comes back with this error:

“Please confirm the shipping method selection, then we can process your order.”

But there are no options provided.

Thanks so much. I will take each item as they appear. First, my success: I was able to delete the checkout2 page (delete permanently, not just put in the ‘trash’ was required.

1. I have a flat shipping of $4. It did not show on the checkout page, so I selected Table Rate just to give that a whirl, before switching back to Flat Rate. On the Checkout page, it shows Table Rate of $4. I cannot get Flat Rate to appear. http://creditsbeforecollege.com/products-page/checkout/

2. Sales Tax is not being calculated. A screenshot of my settings:

3. On the Checkout page, I did need to select “state” in the shipping option. It defaults to appear twice on the checkout page. Screenshot:

Your help is appreciated!

Uploaded screenshot here.

No other boxes are checked on the page below “Checkout with Paypal (account not required)”

Thanks Michael. Your suggestion makes sense and will be close to what I am looking for. My site should move out of test mode today: CreditsBeforeCollege.com
