In reply to: [Longevity] Double banner???Based on your question I’ve fixed it, but now I could use some better understanding. I started out with text widgets ‘!Home and !Pages with a wide banner in the first, a narrow banner in the second. We decided to go with the narrow banner throughout so I changed the url in !Home to the one for the narrow banner. This meant that both widgets had the same image but for the two separate destinations. This, of course, is when the problem started and I didn’t put it together.
So how does this work? The image seems to trump the !Home/!Pages directive, doing so across all of the pages. Now that I know, I can avoid this but I would still like to understand in case there is another way to make use of it.
Thank youForum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Longevity] Category menu links in sidebarIf we decide to launch while some of these problems persist I will be able to share the url. Otherwise, without a way to share the login, the best I can do is screenshots. I haven’t had to check on plugin conflicts yet, although they are all ones I have used successfully with this theme before.
The settings are correct in the Customizer, but this now reminds me of why I am trying to take care of the menu links with CSS. In the list for color controls the one for the sidebar links is missing. The sidebar link hover is there, but not the links themselves. Perhaps you could add this to the theme? That would help with the color but still leave the size issue. I am beginning to think I should create some buttons to work around it.
Regarding the h2, the only customizing I have done is the font change and size which is reflected in the title on the page with the full post. I’ve never seen the two pages be different before.
I will get back to working on this in the next few days… (& there is a new issue for another post 🙁

In reply to: [Longevity] Category menu links in sidebarHi,
For some reason things just aren’t working for these styles.
I am using a menu instead of the categories widget because only certain categories are desired here. With the widget it is not possible to be selective. I tried the first style and it didn’t make any difference. I tried expanding it to this and it doesn’t work either
#right-sidebar#menu-sidebar-categories .menu-item-object-categories aOn the main blog page with the excerpts the blog post titles are showing up very small, not really looking like headings at all. I want to make them larger and change the color to match their counterparts. I have tried both custom CSS and CSS within the Easy Google Fonts plugin and haven’t been successful. The rest of the headings in the theme are fine, as are the headings on the individual blog posts.
I had to shrink down the page on my screen to capture this much, but this shows the small blog title and the small grey category menu at the top of the sidebar.
Unfortunately the code for the <p> tag isn’t having any effect either. I am trying it on more than one computer and browser so this shouldn’t be a cache issue.
This screenshot shows what the blog title looks like on the post page itself, as well as the paragraphs still sticking together.
Fyi, the site is hosted with Bluehost.

In reply to: [Longevity] Category menu links in sidebaras well as the spacing between paragraphs…
.entry-content p isn’t getting me there!Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Longevity] Category menu links in sidebarI just discovered that the h2 blog post titles are also not responding to what I am doing. I am using
.h2 .entry-title
What next?Thank you!
Ok, thanks for the help.
Thanks. Should I change this to resolved or wait a bit?
Thank you wfasa. I had it set to “240 per minute (4 per second) then throttle it”. I don’t think she could do categories that quickly, and why would she have been locked out? I’ve changed it to unlimited but it seems like there might be something more to it. Does this make any sense to you?

In reply to: [Easy Google Fonts] 'Create font control' stopped workingIt has turned out that the actual function of creating the font control is being completed but there is no indication that this is happening on that screen. If I then go to the tab for Manage Font Controls they do show up in the list. It may be that the plugin interface has changed since the last time I worked with it. Either way, it is not user friendly to give no feedback indicating the success of an action.
Please fix this in the next update!
Otherwise it’s a good plugin.

In reply to: [Longevity] Replacing waveI figured it out. I have been leaving the extra code for the color options in and the single vs. double quotes, plus the file extension were all potential sources of error. I stripped out the extras so I could use the complete file name as-is and that fixed it. I’m not sure what I was doing which made the larger banner work but not the smaller one, but that’s not important.
Thanks again!

In reply to: [Longevity] Replacing waveI am picking this up where I left off, sort of…
This is a different site (which you won’t be able to view yet) and different images, but the same files and code. The first site lost it’s owner and is waiting for the right one to come along to be able to go live.In the current site I have the home page working perfectly with a new banner and a file looking like deckle-edged paper in place of the wave. Now I have moved onto the other pages and have gotten stuck. Once again, I am getting the alt tag description but not the image standing in for the wave. The following is a link to the pastebin file for the sidebar-banner.php. I am assuming that is where my problem is but haven’t been able to spot it. Any assistance would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you
Fyi, I installed the WP Rollback plugin to revert to version 2.3.5. That was the end of the debate over FTP vs uploading with fingers crossed about the database. Very quick and clean.
The good news was that the keywords were back. Previously ALL of the metadata had disappeared. This was going to call for a huge reinvestment of time to recreate. The next steps will be to do the switch to SEO Framework via SEO Data Transporter.

In reply to: [Catch Flames] Size and color of logo / site title in mobileBeautiful. Thank you. Using that as my guide I was also able to take care of the tagline. Now all I need to do is change the font and it will be a happy ending. 🙂

In reply to: [Catch Flames] Size and color of logo / site title in mobileThanks Sarah, custom CSS is already in use.
This solves the logo size issue nicely. The text is still an issue though. Any suggestions are welcome.
My latest failed attempt is this—
#branding #site-details h1#site-title { color: #0085bd; important! }Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP STAGING - WordPress Backup, Restore, Migration & Clone] white clone pageSuccess! I had to contact the host to get the logs. This took a long time, so while I was waiting for them I loaded the update and recreated the clone. This time it worked. Thank you so much.
I have used this on several sites and applaud your plugin!
