In reply to: [MaxButtons - Create buttons] Security vulnerabilityUpdate: I went back and checked the websites again. Now Wordfence is giving them all a clean bill of health.

In reply to: [MaxButtons - Create buttons] Security vulnerabilityOn half of the sites I have it on, yes. That’s three out of six, so not a huge number, but not encouraging.

In reply to: [MaxButtons - Create buttons] Security vulnerabilityAn update… I find that the websites using the current version of this plugin are split. Some have the Wordfence alert while the others do not. They have a wide variety of plugins. Perhaps there is a conflict with some? Other than stating it is a security risk Wordfence doesn’t give any indication.
Are there CSS changes which won’t work in the Customizer and need to be done in the theme for them to work? That seems to be one category of the changes they will be making.
@bcworkz , my comment about the crazy business model had nothing to do with free and open source. This whole thread is regarding a premium theme that the developers plan to customize without the use of a child theme., I am well aware of best practice and am now more than a little surprised to learn that this is how they approach the customization of all of their customer’s themes. They offer free customization in the first year and lifetime updates. Thus they appear to be committing to a lifetime of customizing updates… To me that is a crazy business model.
I am thinking that after they make their changes I will do a comparison of the before and after theme versions and then see if I can make a child theme with only their customization. I have never tried doing it in reverse like this but it seems like the best insurance policy.
@bcworkz it is a classic theme, and not a child theme. The theme editors apparently intend to provide customized updates. If this is the case, it sounds like a crazy business model to me…
@wpmudevsupport12 , this concern is not about anything I put in the Customizer.
This thread is about changes the developers intend to make to the theme itself.
This theme works with both the block and classic editor.
My concern is with the modification they are intending to do to what will serve as the parent theme for this website. I have added other CSS to the Customizer which I could easily copy, but some of this will add some functionality to the theme which, it seems to me, would be vulnerable in updates. Whether or not their view of this theme is that it is one of their children, the issue of overwriting still appears to be a real concern.

In reply to: [Simple Shopping Cart] Missing CartStripe has been enabled and tested using the Sandbox. PayPal is disabled.
Having the cart always there isn’t as intrusive as we had thought it would be so if there is no easy solution it can stay.

In reply to: [Simple Shopping Cart] Missing CartI just switched it to the shortcode with “always show” and the button and cart now both show. While this now makes it usable it’s not the solution we want. If you can help it to get back to working properly it would be much appreciated. Thanks

In reply to: [Simple Shopping Cart] Missing CartThe host does not have a caching system. The cache has been cleared and the two plugins related to caching have been deactivated. This made no difference. At this point the problem is no longer intermittent. I get a green message stating that the item has been added to the cart but haven’t seen the checkout button or cart in quite awhile. I looked at the logs and they document the successful tests of sandbox cards but nothing since then. I don’t have any idea what changed to trigger this.
This is now officially broken. Please help!

In reply to: [Simple Shopping Cart] Missing CartThis disappearing act is intermittent. Sometimes the whole process works and is visible on this same page. And the rest of the time it doesn’t…
[wp_cart_display_product name=”Downloadable Copy” price=”29.95″ thumbnail=”http://www.bettersmarterricher.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/BSR-Mockup2.jpg” description=”Print on your own printer or have it printed and spiral bound at a print center.”]
[show_wp_shopping_cart]
Since it doubles as the product page I don’t really want the cart to show all of the time but if it’s the only way I will try the “always” shortcode.
I would like to resolve the intermittency. Thank you.
Thank you @madhusudandev, that solved the problem.
Chiming in: Wordfence recommends removal of the plugin. I don’t want to do this.
Noting that the page with this report makes it look like this was first reported on in December even though it hasn’t been coming up as critical until now.
@madhusudandev thank you for the response. An immediate fix would be much appreciated. How can this best be accomplished?
