    Hi,

    Thank you for the advice.

I added the code (copied and pasted it into the css file) but nothing has changed?

I don’t understand why playing with the CSS isn’t making any differences for me :/

I would like the text immediately after the photo to butt up against the bottom of the image, currently there is a gap of one line from the margins of the photo. I will make a screenshot later today to show what I mean.

Etc. I know I have lots of images, but they’ve all been compressed and resized so I don’t think that is the issue?

Thanks again for any help in pointing me in the right direction

Ok, I kind of fixed it… fingers crossed.

I used the codes from here to make a new htaccess: http://codex.wordpress.org/Multisite_Network_Administration

And everything came back! But since I had deleted jetpack, none of my custom CSS was working and my site looked very strange. So i redownloaded and installed jetpack, then my CSS came back as well.

Whew, for now I think everything is okay. This has shown how every little thing is connected and affects everything, one little click can wreck all sorts of havoc, but can also restore things too. Thanks for the help!

Hi, I just received this note from my host:

“The errors were caused by changes in the htaccess. Specifically the error was Bad Flag Delimiter. The flag delimiters are the [L], [OR], etc tags at the end of some of the lines. I’m not sure which was causing the error. I moved the modified .htaccess to htaccess.txt. I replaced it with the default htaccess (modified for /journal/). “

The site is back up, but now my multisite URLs are pointing to my domain name instead of the multisites. For example http://cathywu.com/journal/kalali/wp-admin/ should point to my wordpress multisite dashboard, but instead it is going to http://cathywu.com/ .

I can, however, access the main wordpress dashboard, but cannot do anything with my sub blogs.

Yes, I have deleted the jetpack folder and nothing changed. I also renamed the entire plugins folder and the 500 error is still there

Resolved! I received a reply on another forum, here it is:

You have probably overridden the function pinboard_register_scripts() in your child theme. If so, you need to update the paths to the scripts from the theme’s functions.php file to your child theme’s functions.php file.

I just replaced the childboard functions.php with the original functions.php. Worked perfectly.

I think it is Masonry style that has vanished – just found that term now. So I would like to enable the Masonry layout for pinboard again. I’m confused as to why it vanished.

    Hi David,

Thank you. I’ve emailed them so I hope it works out.
But, I set updraftplus to put the backups on Dropbox – there are now 4 files from updraftplus on there. Can I assume that in a worse case scenario, my website is still complete on Dropbox and I just need to restore it from somewhere else? Sorry if these are very basic questions, but I’m not very familiar with any of this.

    thanks again,

    Cathy

    Hello,

My site came back, but now it gives me a 404 error – and only the site where I did a backup with updraft plus. All other urls and folders work for my domain, except the 1 site I tried to backup. What’s odd is that I received an email saying that my backup was complete (after I deactivated the, plugin and renamed the folder through FTP) – but the URL now redirects to a 404 site, not the 500 error I was getting earlier. http://cathywu.com/journal/treadling no longer works, but http://cathywu.com/journal/ does as does http://cathywu.com/ .

I am wondering, did my site get deleted? did my host delete it? Is there any way I can bring it back….? Thank you for any help.

I’ve renamed the folder but it is still down. I’ve also written a note to my webhost, so fingers crossed that will do the trick.

    Thank you for the help!

    Hi!

Thank you so much. It worked perfectly. (I made a child theme too) The date was also overlapping the image, and I couldn’t figure out how to push my thumbnail down, so I just pushed the date up – works for me. Thank you again!

Thank you. I assume it is index.php I will need to edit/make a child theme then? Do you have a link to a tutorial you recommend for adding an entry date/modifying a .php ? Sorry I am a beginner at this but I am trying to learn.
