    At this point, I do not have another computer to try to edit on.

    I added the concatenate_scripts line and that did not fix the problem.

    I have cleared the cache and cookies, logged out and logged back in, and I still cannot edit images.

    So Krishna, can you please tell me exactly what those error messages showed? Which files are having problems? What are the problems? Something with the php?

    I don’t intend to be mean, but I’m getting very frustrated, for it seems that you are not reading my notes, which comes across as you are not paying any attention.

    In my very first note, I wrote, “I have changed the theme to Twenty Ten, Twenty Eleven and Twenty Twelve. I have disabled all plugins; currently I have no plugins enabled.”

    So, I took the steps you recommend about a month ago. I have switched to the Twenty Twelve theme and I have on plugins loaded. I do not find the image editing button.

    So what more do I need to do to figure this out?

    OK — I have reinstalled WordPress from a fresh download once again. The problem remains.

    I think it safe to conclude that this is NOT a problem with a corrupt file. So how do I figure this out?

    As I said in my original post, “I did a manual update using [the instructions in the codex].” That included backing up the database and deleting the files before reinstalling.

    No. On the Edit Media page, as explained in the codex (https://codex.wordpress.org/Edit_Media#Edit_Image), there is a “Edit Image” button underneath the image itself.

    In my installation, that button doesn’t exist. The Edit Media codex page doesn’t mention anything about needing to hover over any URLs. And I cannot get the button to appear by hovering over anything.
