Hi @bosskland
I’m sorry to hear that you ran into issues with this!
This looks like it may be a conflict or cache issue. I see two errors on that page — one from autooptimize and one from your theme.
We recommend clearing the server cache if you have one (which is found either in your hosting settings or on your plugin settings for things like WP Super Cache and W3TC if you have them installed), as well as your client browser cache.
The best way to get uncached data on your browser is to use a Private Browsing window or Incognito mode (depending on your browser). That ensures you’re seeing the latest, correct data.
If that doesn’t resolve the issue, will you check if you have the same issue under these conditions?
– all other plugins deactivated
– any custom code removed
– WP 2020 theme active
– running the current version of Business Directory Plugin
– running the current version of WordPress
– all site, server, and browser caches clearedIf you do have the same issue under those conditions, please let me know.
Please try that and let me know what you find.
Hi @bguth3
Yes, you can do this with a category shortcode. All of our supported shortcodes are listed here: https://awpcp.com/knowledge-base/awpcp-shortcodes/
If you have further questions about this, please contact us with a link to this forum thread here: https://awpcp.com/contact/

Hi @elodie66
Thank you for posting here! I can help you here, no problem.
Please go to Directory > Settings > Listings > Categories and be sure that this setting is UN-checked: Show only parent categories in category list?
Please try that and let me know if you run into more issues.
Hi @bguth3
Thanks for getting in touch! Is this about our AWP Classifieds plugin? I apologize that we didn’t receive your emails — that can be frustrating for both of us.
You can always change/delete categories in the plugin, and on the listings as well. You can do this all at one time by exporting your listings, changing the category, then e-importing.
Here is the documentation for that: https://awpcp.com/knowledge-base/import-export/
Please let me know if that resolves the issue.
Hi @joeknife
Thanks for your patience on this while I was checking with our developer to see if this was possible.
It looks like it would be possible with this hook that isn’t yet documented: wpbdp_listing_search_parse_request.
Since this is a common request, we may be able to add an example in the docs to get you started. Is that something that would be helpful for you?
Hey @sjf
I took a look at your site with the developer tonight — I appreciate you sending that in. It looks like you are using custom CSS to hide the fee plan and category selection, so that’s why more recent versions of the plugin won’t work.
I have submitted a request to address this issue in a future version of the plugin; namely, when there is only one fee plan and/or category, that first step in the submission process gets combined with the second step.
Thanks for your patience on this as we sorted out the issue. If you can please let me know if this resolves your question, I will close the ticket.
Best,
~Bobbie
Thanks for that @sjf Can you tell me how you hacked the plugin to make that happen? It has always been a requirement of the plugin that a category be selected.
Hi @sjf
Sorry for any confusion about this. I marked this as resolved because there isn’t a way to skip the category selection step in the current version of Business Directory Plugin.
How did you do this in the past? I tried using CSS to hide the step, but it breaks the rest of the listing submission form in version 5.9.2.

In reply to: [AWP Classifieds] Enlace a las categoríasHi @renato11165
Thanks for your question.
If you do to Classified Ads > Categories you can get the hyperlinks by clicking on the category names there.
I hope that helps!

Hola @ renato11165Gracias por tu pregunta
Si lo hace en Anuncios clasificados> Categorías, puede obtener los hipervínculos haciendo clic en los nombres de las categorías allí.
¡Espero que eso ayude!
Hi @sjf
Thanks for your question.
Business Directory Plugin is a custom post type in WordPress, and as such it does require a category for a listing to be posted. For most sites, there is some way to categorize the listings. If you’d like help brainstorming, I’d be happy to do that with you. You can contact me directly or post a response here. In reply to: [AWP Classifieds] Location FieldHi @robbiepress
Thanks for your question.
We removed location as a field over a year ago because it was not supposed to be there, and because it was causing a lot of confusion and errors, unfortunately.
If you’d like to have location data on your ads, you have a few options:
1. Use the Free plugin: Add text to the Ad Details field to explain to users that they should include location information in their ads.
2. Purchase the Regions Module, as it was built specifically for adding location data to ads, and will give you the most flexibility. You can learn more about that module here: https://awpcp.com/downloads/regions-module/
3. Purchase the Extra Fields Module and add any region-type data you’d like. Although this does not offer as many options for sorting listings by location as the Regions Module does, this would allow you to create a field and include the location data you’d like, and would also allow you to add other types of fields that are specific to your site. You can learn more about that module here: https://awpcp.com/downloads/extra-fields-module/
I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues!
