In reply to: [AWP Classifieds] Redirection not working for deleted adsHi @spespam
Thanks for your question. I’m sorry to hear that you ran into issues with this!
It sounds like you are using an older version of AWPCP — have you updated to the 4.x version of the plugin?
Please let me know.
Thanks for your question!
AWPCP supports SEO through the Yoast SEO plugin, which we have documented how to configure correctly to work with AWPCP here: https://awpcp.com/knowledge-base/creating-seo-friendly-pages-in-awpcp/
If you need to override the template for the ads, you can read more about that in our customization docs: https://awpcp.com/documentation/customization-guide/

In reply to: [AWP Classifieds] Multiple sites with single Paypal accountHi @yandoos
Thanks for your kind words!
We checked on this and believe it is fine to use the IPN on multiple sites connected to a single PayPal account. The developer did a quick test and seemed to have no issues.
If for some reason you try it and it doesn’t work, please let us know by using https://awpcp.com/contact/

In reply to: [AWP Classifieds] How registred user could delete their own Ads ?Hi @tcmacadmind
This user found that while doing a conflict test (turning the plugins off and on) fixed the issue. Theme and plugin conflicts are very common in WordPress, and a conflict test is used to help determine the cause of the issue. Here is an article about how to test for theme and plugin conflicts with Business Directory, which may help pinpoint the issue: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum/faq/how-to-check-for-plugin-and-theme-conflicts-with-bd/
Before doing a conflict test, it is a best practice to take a backup of your site before beginning or to do the test on a staging site, in case any settings are changed during the process.
Please try that and let me know if you run into more issues.
Hi @jameswsparker Thank you for your kind words! I’m glad you’ve found the plugin easy to use and we appreciate you leaving the review!
Hi @garymc1701
Thanks for your question! I can help you here, no problem.
BD has what are called category-specific fields, so you can create fields specifically for only accomodations that won’t be shown on other categories. We have full instructions for how to do this here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-do-i-add-category-specific-fields/
I hope that helps.

In reply to: [AWP Classifieds] How to edit classified permalinks? Thanks for your question! I’m happy to help.
All of the settings for changing the listing URL are under Classified Admin > Settings > Classifieds > SEO. It’s currently not a setting of AWPCP to allow you to remove the ad ID number from the URL. That’s something we can consider for future development, but not something the plugin allows for today.
If there’s something else I can help you with, please let me know.
Hi Ankit,
I responded to your email on this and this issue is resolved by adding a category and a fee plan to your listings, which are required for BD.
Hi @atomicbong
Thanks for that information. Can you please try changing this setting to see if it works?
Go to Directory Admin > Manage Options > General Settings > Advanced and select the checkbox next to Disable advanced CPT integration?I understand about sharing the information on this site. If that doesn’t help, please contact us with a link to this thread and that information here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/
Hi @atomicbong
Thanks for getting back to me on this and for the screenshot.
The theme tags was a suggestion since I didn’t know what type of fields you had.I have not been able to reproduce this issue on my test site. We are happy to help troubleshoot this issue with you. Can you tell me a bit more?
– What version of WP are you running here?
– What exact version of BD? (number, please)
– What exact version of any other BD Modules? (number, please)
– What theme are you using?
– Have you modified the plugin? If so, how?
– Can you please send a link to the affected site? The other thing we need for troubleshooting are the results of a conflict test. Please conduct this and let me know the results of this test.

For your question regarding the translation process — those files are not overwritten upon update of the plugin.

Hi @salpetriere
Thank you for your input on this issue — it’s really appreciated. We will be making some changes in the future to some of our processes, so I can submit this as an enhancement request along with the other issues you’ve brought up here. I can’t give you a timeline on this, but know that it will be looked at by our dev team.
Hi @salpetriere
Thanks for following up here. Answers to your questions inline below.
Am I correct in my understanding that if we were to set that setting to ‘Pending’ we would then be required to manually approve every listing before they display on the site? – yes, that is correct.
“Does it take some time for the listing to be automatically published?”
It can take some time (a matter of hours) for the listing to update, so be sure to check that a little later. If you are seeing longer delays than that, please let me know.“Is there any way that we can ensure that the new listing emails that site admins receive only send after payment has been successfully processed?”
Right now, we don’t have a setting for this in the plugin. I can add an enhancement request for this, no problem. I think once you switch to Stripe this shouldn’t be an issue for you. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.- This reply was modified 5 years, 11 months ago by bobbied.
Hi @salpetriere
Thanks for getting back to me on this.
You can certainly hack the plugin to get what you need here, if that helps. For now, though, this isn’t an option in the plugin. I can submit it for further consideration as an enhancement, however.
If you decide to customize the plugin, please understand that hacking the plugin comes with it’s own risks and complications–like the fact that any changes you make can break other aspects of the plugin and any issues you have need to be tested against an unmodified plugin for support. If you can reproduce on the unmodified plugin, we can fix it. But any updates or changes have to be maintained by you in your custom version. It’s a pretty big hassle.
If you’d like to proceed with that and have the right skill set, you can learn more about that here: http://docs.businessdirectoryplugin.com/themes/customization.html
Hi @atomicbong
I’m sorry to hear that you ran into issues with this!
For the field order issue, please be sure that you have used Manage Theme Tags to map the fields. We have more information on how to do that here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/manage-form-fields/
As for changing the “Search Listings” text, any string or label in the application can be modified with a translation file to be whatever you want it to be.
Although a translation file is traditionally used to change the language of a plugin, it also will change ANY string or label in the plugin (For example, you can change the word “Search” to “Find”) We have full instructions on how to do that here:
1. Download the POedit software (You can find it here: https://poedit.net/) (NOTE: This is a separate program from BD Plugin).
2. Find and download the POT file from Business Directory Plugin (in the wp-content/plugins/business-directory-plugin/languages directory of the plugin, named WPBDM.pot)
3. Open the file and create a new translation
4. Make all of the changes that you’d like to see in the plugin (i.e., Change ‘search’ to ‘look this up’) using Poedit
5. Assuming you are using English here, save the file as WPBDM-en_US.
Doing this will create TWO files — a .mo file and a .po file. NOTE: For other languages, save the file as WPBDM-<langcode_COUNTRY>.po, where <langcode_COUNTRY> represents your ISO language code/country combination, such as en_US (English, US), en_UK (English, UK), fr_FR (French, France), pt_BR (Portuguese, Brazil), etc. Country codes can be found on this GNU website: http://www.gnu.org/savannah-checkouts/gnu/gettext/manual/gettext.html#Country-Codes6. Upload BOTH new files to the wp-content/languages/plugins/ on your website’s server (NOTE: This is a different location from where you downloaded it from). (Second NOTE: You may have to create this file if it doesn’t already exist).
7. IMPORTANT: Be sure to flush any browser caching you have in addition to any WordPress/web hosting caching you have so that you can see your new strings. View in Incognito mode to see an uncached version of the page.
You should now see your site with the new changes.
Please keep in mind that with each release, we add, edit or remove strings in the plugin, and as a result, those things are changed in the translation file. If you are using a translation file, you should update your translation files with EACH upgrade of the plugin.
Follow the instructions in this article for the steps to take to upgrade your translation file: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-to-upgrade-a-translation-file/
