Hi @egleason
Thank you for reaching out about this. I’m sorry to hear that you ran into issues with the upgrade.
What version were you upgrading from, do you remember?
If it’s still in workable condition, I’d recommend exporting your listings first just in case.
If you have premium modules, please contact us directly here:ย http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/
Appreciate the information @patsky If we can nail this down to a common issue among everyone, we’d be happy to fix it.
Received your ticket @freddredirl and responded. Thanks ๐
Hi @mmccrea
Thank you for reaching out about this.
There is a setting in the Long Description field to allow HTML — have you tried that? We have some documentation on this here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/manage-form-fields/#Field-specific_settings
Please try that and let me know if you run into more issues.
Hi @freddredirl
We are working with individuals directly. If you’d like to contact us also we’ll be happy to help: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/
Most of what we’re seeing is some kind of issue on the individual sites, though I’m not sure how successful things have been since I haven’t heard back recently from the other two people reporting.
One thing to check is the size of your images — very large images will definitely slow down the directory – under 150kb is best. We have recommendations for images sizes here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/appearance-tab/#Image_Size_Recommendations
The other thing we are asking people to do is download Query Monitor and analyze the top issues they see. So far, we haven’t seen Business Directory Plugin as a big issue there.
Will you also check if you have the same issue under these conditions?
– all other plugins deactivated
– any custom code removed
– WP 2020 theme active
– running the current version of Business Directory Pluginย
– running the current version of WordPress
– all site, server, and browser caches clearedI hope that helps. If you are still running into issues, please contact us directly.
I see this ticket is still open. Was the $listing_id what you needed here?
Please let me know.
Thank you for your patience on this. So, we have this on our list for future enhancement, but right now it’s not possible to do this. The reason is sort of complicated and it won’t be an easy change, so I can’t give you a timeline on this.
The reason for the complication is due to payment settings, ironically. We have a setting for category-specific fees, and this is somehow connected.
I’m sorry we don’t have a way to do this right now, but thanks for bringing it up. We are always looking for ways to improve the plugin!
Best,
~Bobbie
So sorry for the delay in responding here! I’m waiting to hear back from the dev team on this — I apologize for not letting you know sooner!
I’ll let you know once I have more information. Thanks for being patient!
Hi @dianino78
Thank you for reaching out about this. I’m glad to hear that you are considering Business Directory Plugin for your project.
Listings are only “owned” by one person, and that person can log in and edit their content as much as they’d like. In addition, listings are indexable by search engines.
I hope that helps. Feel free to browse our Knowledge Base here as well!
Thank you for reaching out about this.
It sounds like you want more control over what people publish in the listings. Users who do have access codes or who are registered on your site can edit and change the content of the listing at any time.
If you want to limit this, you can change a setting so that you have to review any changes made on the site. That setting is under Directory > Settings > Listings. You will want to change “Edit post status” to require your approval.
I hope that helps!
Hi @natmarcin
Thank you for reaching out about this. I’m sorry to hear that you ran into issues with the page title.
You can hide that with custom CSS. While all fonts, colors and spacing can be changed using custom CSS, providing exact code here is beyond the scope of support we can offer. Here is an article about how to use custom CSS with Business Directory in a way that doesn’t get overwritten on upgrade of BD: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-to-use-custom-styles-with-bd/
You can also change it with a template override, which you can learn more about here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/general-customization-guide/

In reply to: [AWP Classifieds] Search Results Pagination?Hi @dmccreary
Thank you for reaching out about this.
As you may have expected, I’m afraid your project is not something we support and is beyond the scope of what I’m allowed to troubleshoot. However, there are a few great resources to help you out here.
1) Codeable has WordPress expert developers available for short-term projects
2) Tilden Tasks does longer WordPress tasks, but they break it down to 1 task per day.
3) Upwork (formerly known as oDesk) to help out if you think this is beyond your current skill set. There’s a lot of decent folks on there as well.`Hi @glassraven
Thank you for reaching out about this. We would like to troubleshoot this issue with you further.
Since we can’t provide support for premium modules, could you please contact us with a link to this forum thread here: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/
We’ll get someone to look into it as soon as possible!
Hi Larry,
Since you contacted us directly, we can finish the conversation there. At this time, we don’t have documentation for Rank Math and this appears to be a premium setting in the Rank Math plugin.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
Hi @lbohen
Business Directory Plugin does include schema.org markup, and it doesn’t have to be turned on. It sounds like this may be a setting in the SEO plugin you are using. Which one are you using?
