In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] What is the reload method?@delnir A full website backup is a complex process which may take a couple of minutes depending on many circumstances. We use reloading technique to bypass the execution time limit problem. Depending on server configutations some of the methods might not work and that is why we are providing multiple options. One of them is curl.

In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] Not User Friendly@mwarbinek We are sorry that you feel frustrated.
The issue with garbled text is coming from server side, you can fix this problem by adding your custom MIME types in your hosting dashboard. Please try to add sgbp extension as application/octet-stream, this should help you with the issue.
Regarding our sgbp format, I will bring you some reasons why we prefer using our own format:
1) The zip format has limitations that we don’t have. For example, a zip file cannot be larger than 4GB or have more than 65535 files.
2) We have removed a lot of unused headers, making that way our file smaller and faster to generate or extract.
3) As you already know, many of WordPress based websites are hosted in shared hostings that have small execution time limit for PHP scripts. We have figured out a way to surpass that issue thanks to our reloading mechanism, and that could not be possible if we didn’t have our own format.
So we think these reasons are good enough to allow us create and use our own custom archive format. Also, we are also offering you an extraction software, so there is no issue for extracting your files (although we believe that manual extraction is not necessary at all). I would also like to point out that our SGBP Extractor is completely free to download and easy to use: https://backup-guard.com/products/backup-wordpress/doc/extract-sgbp

In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] Upload Failed@miggie Uploading might fail because of server limitation. You can upload the archive using an FTP client. Connect with your FTP client (e.g. FileZilla or Cyberduck), and upload the backup to “/wp-content/uploads/backup-guard” directory. Afterwards, backup automatically will appear on BackupGuard’s backup section.

All the backups and related stuff (e.g. log files) are located in “/wp-content/uploads/backup-guard/” directory.

In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] Restore keeps failing@jbalazs8178 This error massage could happen (SGExceptionMigrationError) if only you attempt to migrate your website instead of simple restoration. Migration is not just restoration. All database is being refactored to be compatible to the new environment in case of migration. The migration feature is included only in Pro versions, that’s why such exception could happen when you attempt to migrate the website using Free version.
