Hi,
UpdraftPlus will split large backup entities into more manageable chunks by default this is 400Mb chunks.
This is so we don’t have to upload and download very large files, which can be a problem on cheap hosting.
As the uploads directory can get quite large, this means that most sites will have multiple uploads backup zips.
So this is nothing to worry about and is expected.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Backup non-WordPress tables?Hi,
Yes non WordPress tables are tables that don’t belong to the current WordPress install.
So for example maybe you have some non WordPress software running on your server that is sharing the same database as your WordPress site.

Hi,
Sorry about the delay.
Your local backups should be stored by default in wp-content/updraft

Hi,
Sorry for the delay over the weekend.
I’ve just started to reply to the other similar tickets here is the message:
The error you are getting means that there is no network connectivity in between the site and Google Drive more information can be found here:
I’ve tested Google Drive backups from our end and can confirm they are working as expected.
So either Google had some issues over the weekend that are now resolved
Or there is an issue with your server connecting to Googles servers, in this case it’s best to speak to your hosting provider and show them the log file so they can investigate.

Hi,
Sorry about the delay.
I understand what you are asking for now.
This isn’t currently a feature in UpdraftPlus, I will add a task to our internal task tracker for review.

Hi,
If you don’t want to send your backups to remote storage thats fine, just dont add any remote storage and your backups will be stored on your server. But thats not recommended as thats a keeping all your eggs in one basket situation
e.g if your hosting disappears so does your backups, if your site gets hacked the hacker could also delete all your backups, also you would need the storage space to be able to store the backups on your server etc.
Different email providers have different restrictions on how big attachments can be, thats the reason only small backups can be sent via email.
There is no option to send a download link to a backup stored on your server for technical and security reasons, every server is different but the server will probably be setup to stop anyone accessing random files from the server
e.g you wouldn’t want your backup files in a directory that anyone could access and download with a link

Hi,
If you can view the clone front page, login to wp-admin and in your UpdraftPlus.com account in the my clones section the clone shows as ready then it is safe to use and you can ignore that final error message.
This error message sometimes happens (when sending to a clone) due to a race condition and should be fixed in a future release.

Hi,
Sorry about the delay.
I’m not sure why log files are being deleted, theres no code in UpdraftPlus that should be doing that.
You could try to reinstall the plugin and also turn on the “report” facility, it will email you the log files and that’ll include details on whether any past logs were deleted.
Perhaps it’s something external, e.g. hosting company, though, that sounds unlikely (even really big logs aren’t that huge compared to all the other stuff making up a website).

Hi,
Sorry for the delay.
Theres no way to reset the plugin, it should automatically handle cleaning up old log files.
If you want to keep all your log files then you will need to use the above mentioned filter to set the time you want to keep the log files for e.g set the time to keep them to something very high.

Ashley
Hi,
There is no front end option to control when logs are deleted.
Bt default they are removed every 40 days, but you can change this your self using the WordPress filter ‘updraftplus_log_delete_age’

Hi Steve,
Sorry about the delay.
Yes the backup gets split into different entities (Database, themes, plugins, uploads, others)
Each entity if it’s a large amount also gets split up so for example if you have a lot of uploads then you may end up with a few uploads zips (uploads, uploads2, uploads3 etc)
Yes you could run a backup and upload to Google Drive on multiple hosts, please note that with the free version of UpdraftPlus all Google Drive backups will go to the same backup folder ‘UpdraftPlus’.
To answer your final question yes you could restore your backups on another host, one thing to note that with the free version of UpdraftPlus the URL on the new site would need to be the same as the original, other wise you will be left with URL’s pointing to the old site.

Ashley

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] PHP Error While DeletingHi,
We support PHP 5.2 as that is the minimum supported PHP version for WordPress 3.7 onwards (WordPress 5.2 has recently changed the minimum to PHP 5.6).
http://displaywp.com/wordpress-minimum-php-version/
Where WordPress 3.7 is currently the oldest supported WordPress version which we also support:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WordPress#Release_history
The conflict is with Google Site Kit and Google Drive in UpdraftPlus, you can still use UpdraftPlus with other remote storage options such as Dropbox if you wanted to.

Ashley
