Sorry I can’t verify 8 or 9; the fields have already been replaced. The data wasn’t sticking when the “Update” button was clicked on the custom post, after the fields were populated by the contributor. One contributor using Safari was able to get the fields to save by hitting return (text field not text area) after entering data into each.

Sorry I wasn’t clear, I don’t need help integrating the plugin with another… I understand the amount of hours that goes into plugin maintenance and would never ask that. I was just wondering if you knew off the top of your head the general steps I need to take to remove CCTM altogether, and still retain the custom post display in the dashboard and frontend, I’ve got everything in place with my template files to display the custom posts, just wasn’t sure what to add to the functions file to pickup where CCTM is missed. It’s ok I can figure it out, thanks again for your prompt help with everything else and good luck!!!

Thanks again. I installed the dev version and still had the issue with IE7 (didn’t test 8 or 9), understood it’s still in development but fyi. Also, I had a text area in place that the dev plugin replaced with placeholder text “Nothing Much”. Although the original text was still in the db if I pasted the original text back in and saved the original text disappeared from the db.

So I found a different plugin to just handle the custom fields, and it crossed over great from your plugin, new fields populated with the original ones I created with CCTM. But I’m not sure how to pull the plugin out leaving the dashboard and display options intact. I understand if you don’t want to spend time answering, but if you would be kind enuf to tell me how to replace the plugin with functions or whatever I’d appreciate it. There’s custom posts in the db I’d like to retain.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply. Cant agree more on IE, when do you expect the dev version to release? I may give it a whirl early after a quick backup. I’ve got a system in place that we’re coaxing in a lot of timid users to embrace and anarchy may ensue if I ask them to install a new browser 🙂

    Thanks very much!

Hi Remco. I was also wanting this, sort of. I’m mapping all hydroelectric projects in the Northwest U.S., each one an individual post with description and pic. I was looking for a way to display a map that includes all posts on it, clickable to each individual post. This way I can let the user search for a hydro project using a map view. Does your plugin already do this?

Nice job by the way, very clean and easy.

Thanks much ccottet. Glad to hear I’m not the only one! What it boiled down to for me is if a user had any role on the main site they would not be added to group blogs when joining a group. Noticed in testing if a user was “Wiki Editor” role in the main site everything worked. So figuring it was just the native roles in wp that groupblog didn’t play well with I installed User Role Editor and created new roles with same capabilities as existing wp roles and that took care of it. Only activated those roles on main site, works for us since we’re not using the main blog like the sub blogs. I did try removing that line you mention but it didn’t work for me. I think that function probably needs to be reworked completely. But in the meantime happy happy. Thank you so much for your response, hopefully all of this helps someone else avoid lots of time-consuming troubleshooting.

Mariusooms can you please help me fix a problem I’ve been really having trouble with? My groupblog plugin doesn’t want to silent add users to group blogs after I upgrade from wpmu 2.9.2 to wp3.0 or wp3.0.1, I’ve tried every configuration of upgrade I can without luck. Has this been a problem, or is there a common conflict with another plugin that messes up db tables (i have all other plugins off), or ?

Thanks in advance for your help or advice.

Update, still beating my head against the wall on this. If there was a decent way to rebuild it on top of the new install I would, but there’s 200 members in there using the wire pretty heavily and I don’t know of a good way to migrate that stuff to a fresh install. There must be someone out there who’s having the same problem? Or someone who has any upgrade process advice that may help?

In troubleshooting I installed a fresh out of the box wp3.0.1, bp 1.2.5.2 and gb1.4.9 and it works as it’s supposed to, users are added to groupblog. I put my theme in there and it still works as it should. Somewhere in the upgrade process is a hitch. I’m not a php guru so not sure what to try other than all variations of upgrades possible from where I started, have seen some info about xml-rpc problems, have also heard of some problems going straight from wpmu to wp3.0.1, anyone have any input or suggestions?

Not sure if anyone is reading this, have posted in many places but no replies. Hi Mariusooms, noticed a week ago our 1.4.4 version had the problem described above.

    Upgraded to wp3.0.1 & gb1.4.9, still didn’t work
Upgraded bp to 1.2.5.2 still not working
Tried rolling back to groupblog plugin 1.4.6 where changelog indicated it was fixed, no luck
    Currently am setup with wp3.0.1 – bp 1.2.5.2 – groupblog 1.4.9.

I’ve tested this with all levels of users, various privacy settings and newly created groups vs existing groups. Have tried disabling then enabling plugins as well as turning off then back on the groupblog feature for a group. Have all other plugins disabled including mu-plugins, only things active are wp bp and groupblog. Sites are in subfolders, not using subdomains.

Can you pretty please give me assistance to fix? Before 1.4.4 all was well.

Oh and I should add I am using subfolders for sites, not subdomains.

Thanks DJP, yep I upgraded to 1.1.1 same thing. I scooted over to BuddyPress forums and re-posted this there, from now on I’ll check that thread. Here’s a repeat of my post over there:

I am also having problems with Welcome Pack. BP1.1 & BP1.1.1 same problem, WPMU2.8.4a. Fatal error on activation of the plugin, though it mostly works here’s what I get:
Register a user as admin in dashboard, select “skip confirmation”. Sends out confirmation anyhow, and email dies at activation link. I do get all other welcome pack emails except:
If sent from main WPMU blog don’t get the email that states username & pw
If sent from sub blog do get the email that states username & pw
Both tests have the same confirmation email that shouldn’t be sent that dies at activation link.
