Sorry for the late follow-up and thanks for your suggestions so far.
I’ve updated the development version here, where I’ve added the option to show some of the social icons in the Toolbar, in the frontend of the site. Nothing fancy, just the icons and links to their “sharers”, no information about previous shares (counts), nor “Likes”, etc. As I wrote earlier, to go further would probably require a dedicated plugin, but if it can fit your needs I’ll be most happy to keep this feature there and add other social icons. Maybe also add the admin option to choose between the homepage and the current page (whatever it is) ?
Please note that the “Styles” tab is under work. I’m adding default CSS values in its empty fields, the first metabox (“Toolbar”) is done, the other metaboxes are on their way…
Feedback most appreciated!
If you’re running multisite and have ativated WPS Toolbar network wide, the Toolbar could indeed be a good option to ensure this feature is available network wide (regardless of the site admin’s chosen theme or page layout) thanks to WPST’s network features.
It’s only that I find these functionalities to be too specific for this plugin, I see them in a dedicated plugin rather than added to WPST. I just ran a quick search in WP repo and the only plugins I found were to have a floating bar on the side of pages…

In reply to: [Plugin Name: WP Symposium Toolbar] Hide Custom Menu from Non-Logged In UsersJust navigated to your site, not logged-in I could see the Toolbar, totally empty, neither the Profile menu nor the Login menu.
I took the initiative to check the “Visitor” checkbox for the “WP User Menu” at the “Toolbar” tab so that this Toolbar item actually shows to visitor, and now it does show the login menu to visitor, as per the options tab “Custom Menus”. If this isn’t what you want, just let me know.
I appreciate the settings for this partocular item may be tricky, this is essentially due to the various scenarios detailed in the section 2.5 of the User Guide.
Functionnally speaking, a “share/like” button should be thought at a microscopic scale of one item, whether it is a blog post, a forum post/reply, a gallery image, etc. The Toolbar could test if on a “single” post page, but it wouldn’t allow anything anywhere else, like an archive page, a whole gallery, a forum topic, etc. So pretty much a limited use IMO.
I have no plans for such a feature in WPS Toolbar, but if you find what you need and it adds something to the Toolbar, this should pick the CSS like any other item by WPS Toolbar. If it doesn’t, just let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

In reply to: [Plugin Name: WP Symposium Toolbar] Hide Custom Menu from Non-Logged In UsersYes, these menus were created by the plugin, and what you describe is their exact default settings, that were unchanged when I checked on your site. You will need to make sure the Toolbar is actually displayed to non-logged-in users by checking “Visitor” in the “Toolbar” option at the “Toolbar” tab, and you should be all set 🙂
Other than that, I noticed you added an item “Register” to the Profile menu, which I believe will be useless, given that this menu is displayed to logged-in users only (and obviously, registrered)…

In reply to: [Plugin Name: WP Symposium Toolbar] Hide Custom Menu from Non-Logged In UsersThanks for granting me with admin rights, there, most useful.
I didn’t try to play with settings as I see other users registrered on this site. What is your concern exactly, everything seems in place to me, and I see all I should see…?Forum: Plugins

I don’t know for site users, my account is still pending approval, but as far as visitors, I don’t see the Toolbar at all…Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin Name: WP Symposium Toolbar] Hide Custom Menu from Non-Logged In UsersDo you have a URL where I can check why your menu doesn’t show ? If unwilling to share this publicly you may reach me by email, at the address on top of every plugin file.

In reply to: [Plugin Name: WP Symposium Toolbar] Hide Custom Menu from Non-Logged In UsersCustom menus, as well as default Toolbar items, are displayed to roles selected in a list of checkboxes. The checkbox “Visitor” will designate non-logged in users, as well as those who are not registrered at all on your site.
If you select all roles of your site and not “Visitor”, you’ll display a menu to all but non-logged-in users of your site, which is what you want if I understand correctly.
To develop further, you may also show custom menus to some of the roles of your site only: admins, authors, pay members, whatever.
I’ve uploaded a development version, available as a zip file here, that should fix most of the issues with style, both in 3.8 and before.
I’ve also added the option to choose to use the custom style accross the whole dashboard (so that the backend meets the frontend in the Toolbar), or only as a preview at the Styles tab of the plugin options page. This option is at the bottom of the Styles tab.
Feedback most appreciated !
The reasonning behind was that I didn’t want to ruin the efforts the WP team had made to style the admin dashboard, and I thought it would be better to keep its consistency.
For next version I can add the option to choose whether the custom style shall apply to the Toolbar on all dashboard pages for all users (3.7.1-like), so the Toolbar would remain the same sidewide for all users, or only to the Styles tab (3.8-like), so the Toolbar adheres to the admin color scheme chosen by each user.
I will also address the various glitches in fonts and background colors. Sorry for these.
For WP 3.8, I have changed the way the preview is done, and activated it at the Styles tab of the plugin options page, solely. As per the Changelog, v0.22:
“Change: WP 3.8 compliance, preview now only active on the Styles tab”
This should not be dependant upon the Admin Color scheme chosen. However, I do notice a few glitches when no value is set in WPST for colors, the Toolbar doesn’t pick the correct color for icons, fonts and backgrounds, is this what you observe too ?
Fix made official with the v25 released today – can we close this ticket ?

In reply to: [Plugin Name: WP Symposium Toolbar] Upgrade to v0.24.0 not workingFix made official with the v25 released today – can we close this ticket ?
As discussed by chat on WP Symposium site, v25 of the plugin will fix this.
For the records, it seems TML displays in the frontend of the site, parts of WordPress that are designed for the backend, like this Edit Profile page WPS Toolbar was hooked to. So I’ll move my function to the frontend part of the plugin so that both plugins can play nicely one with the other.
Thanks for reporting this, and helping investigating it !
