So, the JetPack galleries are properly viewable only with JetPack Carousel. I do not need to contact any overlay plugins because as I said as a last-ditch effort to explain my position that a right-clicking and choosing open link in a new tab option will show the square image.
It is good to have the definite word that JetPack galleries only work with JetPack Carousel.

Although it was marked as resolved, I will try once more to point out the problem. This time without using any overlays. If you right-click on one of the square tiles and open “the link” in a new tab you should see the linked image. However, the images in the square tiled galleries will open a square image. This has nothing to do with any lightbox I believe like all the galleries operate. But, I may be wrong. Again!

That’s why I reported it to you. I have activated the JP Carousel which comes up first and displays the full-size image. If you close that, the EFB lightbox will show the square, cropped image. It is not an issue for me as I do not use square galleries with JetPack, I reported just in case you might want to know.

Oops! I meant to report this to NextGEN developers. Although the JetPack carousel was also active, NGG was overriding it. Now that I disabled the NGG lightbox, JP Carousel works fine. You have better eyes than mine! I will hide behind my age! 😉

I reported it to both sides, it is not a major issue for me. You may consider an overriding specific rule in case other themes may have similar issues. My two cents.

In the customizer, I tried 20/20 and it displays fine, correctly. I mentioned it here mainly because others may run into a similar situation and in case there is a solution you can superimpose on problems like this. I can report it to the theme developers too.

OK, I am removing the temporary CSS but adding a couple of screen-captures to show what I mean. The link in the previous post will not show a wide-width NGG block.

This will really be a very valuable option to add. Did I say I like this idea?

It is a basic thumbnail gallery but looks with a greater presence with a little elbow sticking out on either side. I will keep it for a while because it is essentially an override of the NGG CSS and if a page cache is refreshed, they will revert to this presentation too.

@macmanx, thank you. I am in RI, USA, and have not left the country or my location in the US. I do not use a VPN, I connect using the local cable company.
I offered translation help to one plugin to Turkish and was given access to WordPress Turkey so that I could update files there. But, that was quite a while ago, maybe a year maybe even more. And, I did that work while at home, not in Turkey.
I ended up purchasing the premium JetPack and paid the amount shown in Turkish Lira, the English description looked like the same plan. Oh, well.

Oh, it got magically fixed! It now shows $ prices. Abra Cadabra!
Well, I spoke too soon! The stats were loading very slowly so I refreshed the page and it reverted back to TL.
