Checking the linked thread, I see that my colleague from the WooCommerce Square support team noted that the issue will require a closer check and was advising you to create a ticket here – https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/?form=ticket.
Kindly proceed by creating the ticket and be sure to select WooCommerce Square in the dropdown:

The core WooCommerce plugin does not have this feature. However, we have the WooCommerce Deposits extension that will offer this capability.
Kindly check the documentation for more details and feel free to create a presales ticket with us in case you have any questions about the extension.

However, when I try to select it from the drop-down menu only some of the products show up.
Just to check, have you tried searching for the product title in the field you’ve highlighted? If the search does not show the product, it might be due to a plugin/theme conflict with WooCommerce. Thus, could you try doing a conflict test as explained here – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/?
