Hello. I am using this plugin in a twenty thirteen theme. It used to work just fine, but now the pdf files open like going to a new page and then have to hit the back button to get back to the site. And the YouTube videos look like they’re going to open in an overlay window and then just go straight to the video on YouTube. Any reason why this would be happening?

By the way, below are links to the sections of the site that are having problems. I just updated WordPress to 4.4 and it’s doing the same thing as it was with 4.3.1. I would really appreciate any help that you can give.

    Thanks in advance.

Anyone out there know about this? Very important that I get it resolved soon since I am supposed to make the site live this weekend.

Okay, I figured it out. Apparently Easy FancyBox is not compatible with the WP Slimstat plugin.

Author, any fix to this or suggestion for another statistics plugin?

    Hi there,

Slimstat support here. Please take a look at our FAQs to learn how to solve this incompatibility issue:

Thanks for the reply, Camu. I was able to get the pdf files to work by deleting the pdf tag from the Extensions to Track area, but I’m confused as to where to enter anything about YouTube videos. Can you help with that?

Nevermind. I just turned off Track outbound clicks and that did the trick. Thanks a lot Camu. If there is a way to turn it off without disabling outbound clicks, please let me know.

Sorry to keep blowing this up, but I just figured it out. I entered youtube.com,youtu.be into the No Callback area and turned Track Outbound Clicks back on and it worked. I’m guessing it’s the Call Back function that breaks the Easy FancyBox link.

Yes, that is correct, dsb0328. The callback function is what sends you to Youtube, instead of keeping you on your site with the overlay open. Unfortunately, because of how Javascript is implemented, we have no way to “inspect” a link to see if it is a “regular” one, or a link that will open an overlay. So we must relay on this workaround to make things work as expected.

Hi camu, the easy fancybox dev here… My plugin and yours have been sent incompatible from the start so maybe it’s about time to find a permanent solution πŸ™‚

I notice there is a field in the slimstat outbound link tracking options that allows to set a class name to disable tracking for individual links. It might be useful in this case but I doubt it will work in one go because my plugin fires as late as it can, usually as the last plugin from wp_footer()

@ dsb0328 do you see the field “Do not track” in your slimstat options? Could you try enabling outbound tracking again and set the class ‘fancybox-youtube’ (without the qoutes) in that exception field? It probably will not work straight away but let me know after you did this and I’ll take a look at your site’s YouTube page to see if this can be somehow made to work…

    Hi RavanH,

thank you for your feedback. Our developer would be more than happy to work with you to find a more permanent solution to this kind of issue. Feel free to contact us directly to recommend a different approach or to know more about the issue itself.

Hi RavanH. Outbound Tracking has always been enabled with “youtube.com” and “youtu.be” listed in the No Callback section. That works fine. I replaced the “youtube.com” and “youtu.be” with “fancybox-youtube” and that also worked just fine. Here’s a link to the videos section of my production site if you want to take a look.

Thanks for the help in trying to make this all better.

Yep, I can see that the tracker is also working as expecting, by recording the click in the background, without triggering the callback πŸ™‚ Nice!

Great! Glad to help. I just moved the site to it’s own server, but would you like me to leave the production site up and running for a little bit for testing? Or is that even necessary at this point?

It’s not necessary, at least not for us.

Hi dsb0328, thanks for reporting back πŸ™‚ and good to hear it works for you now… How did you solve the PDF issue?

The dev site is not accessible without authentication. Could you share a link to the production site? I’d like to see live what is happening exactly so I can figure out if this solution would work in all/other cases.
