WordPress database error

After updating to version 2.4.9, the debug.log file shows hundreds of errors of the same type:

[05-Aug-2026 15:35:15 UTC] WordPress database error Duplicate entry '' for key 'wp_blc_links.url_hash' for query ALTER TABLE wp_blc_links ADD UNIQUE KEY url_hash (url_hash) made by require('wp-blog-header.php'), require_once('wp-load.php'), require_once('wp-config.php'), require_once('wp-settings.php'), do_action('init'), WP_Hook->do_action, WP_Hook->apply_filters, blc_init, blcDatabaseUpgrader::upgrade_database, blcDatabaseUpgrader::make_schema_current, blcTableDelta::delta

I’m going to revert to the previous version because the debug.log file is getting far too big.

I hope things are going well for you.

I can reproduce the same behaviour in the latest version. I appreciate you taking the time to report the issue, which we have forwarded to the BLC team. They will review it soon and share more details.

Please feel free to revert to the recent version from: https://wordpress.org/plugins/broken-link-checker/advanced/.

You can also monitor the change logs; in the upcoming version, we’ll implement a fix for this. While we don’t have an ETA yet, it should be resolved soon.

Thank you for following up. The BLC team is already reviewing the issue; however, at the moment I cannot confirm an exact ETA for when the issue fix will be released.

You can follow the updates on our roadmap here https://wpmudev.com/roadmap/ so that you are notified when we release new updates. Apart from that, once the fix is released, it is also going to be described at changelog found at https://wordpress.org/plugins/broken-link-checker/#developers

In the meantime, you can revert to the previous version of the plugin, which doesn’t have the issue https://wordpress.org/plugins/broken-link-checker/advanced/

A new version of the Broken Link Checker has been released with a fix for this issue. This is version 2.4.10.
