    Hi there,

We have set up Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin on our WordPress website. There is one issue we’re experiencing and wanted to ask for your opinion.

We have enabled the newsletter checkbox to show on our Checkout page and mostly it is there and working, but for one of our colleagues it doesn’t appear. It only happens when he’s logged into the WP admin with his Administrator account, but the strange thing is that no one else from our team is missing this checkbox.

A couple of things we checked:

    1) That he is not subscribed already with this email address – he isn’t

    2) That his administrative email matches perfectly the WooCommerce account email – it didn’t, but we updated it to match and still no change

On incognito and when not logged into the WP admin, we always see it, but it is very weird that only he isn’t able to see it when logged in. Any ideas why?

    Thanks!

P.S. We found this very similar topic on your forum: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/opt-in-checkbox-missing/. However, the person didn’t pursue it and it is unclear what the outcome was.

From the details you’ve described, I was unable to recreate this issue. In light of that I’ll need more information.

Is there a way they could provide a screenshot of the checkout without the opt-box?

What version of the plugin is installed?

    Hi Jordan,

Thanks for your reply. Here is a screenshot without the checkbox: https://prnt.sc/23ak1uq. And here is a screenshot from another person’s account, where the checkbox is available: https://prnt.sc/23aki7y. For confidentiality reasons we have changed the input, but the 2 conditions mentioned in my previous email are still met.

The plugin version currently is 2.5.4.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Thank you!

    Hey @webdesh

If you’re logged in as an existing subscriber the checkbox will not show up at checkout. However, for new or guest users, the checkbox should show up as expected. This may be the case as to why the others see it and they do not.

Rereading through the thread I saw you mentioned that they are not subscribed. Could your clarify this? When was that persons account on the store created vs the others?

If you’re still not seeing the checkbox show up under the circumstances as described, it sounds like there may be a conflict somewhere with a plugin or theme. You may want to download the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to see if it can spot something: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/.
Hope that helps, I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi Jordan,

Thank you for your reply and suggestions.

The account was created together with all other user accounts. The email used to register this administrative account in WordPress isn’t subscribed to the MC audience. We thought that possibly if it’s already subscribed, this is why the checkbox doesn’t appear, but it isn’t and has never been.

We will test the troubleshooting plugin. Please also let us know if you can think of something else that might be an issue.

    Thanks for your support!

    You’re welcome,

I’ve just double checked by testing on my end with the latest plugin version and WordPress and logged in as an admin I’m able to see the checkbox, that is with both the WooCommerce Blocks Checkout page and the Original Shortcode checkout page version.

We haven’t had any other reports of this type of behavior which seems to indicate that something specific to that user account.

The only other idea I can think of is trying to create a new user account for that person to see if the issue persists?

    Hi Jordan,

We deleted this specific user account and created it again with the same details. We are now able to see the checkbox. Thank you for your support.
