The recent reviews had me a little concerned but the functionality it promised made it irresistible. I installed it and had it setup quickly and easily. I was able to setup my first abandoned cart email super easily as well. In fact I was actually impressed with how good the setup process was. I had the documentation there just in case, and it seemed well written, but I probably didn’t even need it. Now I will just observe and see how it runs. But it certainly seems like it is off to a really good start. I will update this review if I have any problems.

Had to go in the back end and delete mailchimp -woocommerce plugin and site came back up.

I installed this when it first launched. It worked for a few days, then stopped working without warning. I’ve tried everything myself – removing plugins, themes with potential conflicts etc. nothing seems to work. And I always thought that MailChimp support was great but now I realize that I’ve just never really tested them. They just asked me to delete and reinstall the plugin every few days when they couldn’t work it out. This plugin definitely isn’t a priority for them. I’ve been a MailChimp customer and fan for years but I’m moving to Campaign Monitor after this experience.

The setup is a little goofy as it adds additional settings tabs as you do things like set the API key and what not. Instead of actually walking you through the setup in a step by step process, it leaves it up to you to realize “Hey there’s a new settings tab, I guess I better set that up too” which of course leaves a lot of room for error.

In addition, this plugin does not include any kind of widgets where you can add additional “Subscribe to our Newsletter” forms in places like the side bars or footers of the site. All it does is add a checkbox to the checkout page to subscribe to newsletters then. This seems a poor over-sight since most people want to capture subscribers regardless of if they purchase something or not. Instead, you have to use a second plugin to do that. So, after activating the MailChimp List Subscribe Forms plugin (made by the same author), I now have two sets of MailChimp settings pages that have to be maintained.

I think they would be better served by making one plugin and allowing people to activate the type of integration they want through the settings page.

Whats this plugin does:
– Syncs all your orders with customer email, name and surname;
– Syncs the clients revenue
– Allows Recommended Products using the MailChimp product intelligence;
This allows the Mailchimp user to do some really nice automation flows and responses, but…

How it can be better:
– The syncing overrides contacts, erasing other information you have about them that are also important (preferences, gender, etc);
– It syncs “Waiting”, “Processing” and even “Cancelled” orders, that, of course, aren’t valid completed orders and can’t be used on Purchase based automations/campaigns;
– It doesn’t syncs Category information about the products, so that can’t be used for Category based automations/campaigns.

The plugin is really good, but really limits what the marketer can do because of those problems. I’ll change my rating as new updates come along.

Yesterday I updated the latest version of woocommerce and wordpress. Today when my account of Mailchimp.com appears disconnected of my site!

When I´m trying to resynchronize the plugin (tab “Sync” > botton “Resync”). Appears a message “Starting the sync process…”after that nothing happens.
