how does large import work over the web | WordPress.org

I have been using the importer on a local install. I was wondering how it works over the web. Suppose I import 1000 posts with a 7 MB file – won’t there be problems importing over the web to a remote server?

Is it possible to import from a server location?

As far as your server settings allow you to import such a large file you can go with that. Keep an eye on max execution time. About remote server, you need to give a try.

I really think you should have the capability to do something like this:

or use some sort of script on the server.
