Any way to include sidebars for custom taxonomies? For example, I have a custom post type “Animals” and taxonomies “Birds”, “Dogs”, “Cats” and I want a different sidebar widget for each type of animal.

  • Thank you for your interest. Yes, you can set sidebars for each category using the Sidebar Location settings. If you run into any problems with setup you can share your settings with us and we will help get things sorted. Enjoy!

Oops, I think I asked that wrong…I actually have custom post type “Animals”, then a custom taxonomy under that of “Dogs”, then categories under dogs of “Retriever”, “Spaniel”, and “Poodle” (or whatever). Can I set a custom sidebar for the custom categories/taxonomies under the main categories under the custom post type? Does that make sense? I don’t see those additional taxonomies on the location menu for archive types.

    Hello @dkirmis,

It is not possible at the moment to setup whole sidebar for specific term in custom taxonomy. It can be set for the whole taxonomy archive (so Dogs).

But if you check “Visibility” option for each widget in sidebar, you will see that it has option to show widget if Taxonomy – and there in field you can setup the specific term (so Spaniel or Poodle).

Generes is my custom taxonomy – and if select it, I will be able to choose my terms

    kind regards,
    Kasia
