Hello @bkatsma,
Hope you’re doing well!
Please go to Appearance > Widgets, expand the sidebar and click on Sidebar Location. Please see this screenshot:

Expand For Archives tab > Archives Types. Tick on As Sidebar for selected Archive Types and type “Post Index”. Please see attached screenshot

Thanks for the quick reply. I have done what you suggested. I went to the sidebar location on the sidebar I want on my blog page and added the “Post Index” value as you described. However, the sidebar on my blog page is not updating. It remains the same one and not the one I specified as the “Post Index”.
Hi @bkatsma,
Can you tell us which theme are you using on your site and is the issue also there if you try with a default WP theme?
Cheers,
Predrag
The wordpress theme is Converio. It’s a live site with active marketing efforts so I haven’t had a chance to see if this changes by switching to a default WP theme.
I switched the site to Twenty Nineteen. When I went to the blog page, clicked edit, there wasn’t the screen option of ‘Custom Sidebars’. Just the standard screen option of ‘Sidebars’ with the image describing “…if you want to change the sidebar go to Sidebar Locations in the Widget..”. I navigated there and no option in the For Archives section to pick as sidebar for category archives. Therefore no way to pick Post Index.
Hello @bkatsma
I hope you’re well today!
I checked and the Twenty Nineteen theme is not actually the “luckiest” choice for testing this as it doesn’t contain “blog” sidebar. Twenty Seventeen would be better in this case. Custom Sidebars plugin can only add custom sidebar to the places on site where current theme allows adding sidebars so if there’s no “location” for the sidebar provided by the theme, it won’t be able to “inject” one.
However, with your regular (“Converio”) theme the issue is most likely different because if you can select location, it means theme allows sidebar there. However, I’ve visited the site and notice that you’re using Fastest Cache plugin there and the page in question is cached.
Have you actually tried to clear/purge cache after setting the sidebar location? Did you try to temporarily disable cache entirely, clear browser cache and check the page again?
If not, could you please give it a go?
Kind regards,
Adam
