In reply to: [Ad Injection] WP 3.9 CompatibilityWorks for me on 3.9.1…
Silence of the author is a concern though. @theshapersblog: in a separate thread http://wordpress.org/support/topic/ads-blocked-by-adinjwidget-class-name?replies=4#post-5415809 , @the Author Jack Foreigner was inquiring about “adopting” or “taking over” this great plugin. Maybe you two can connect.
I found a solved thread “How to turn on HSTS on my WordPress blog” ( http://wordpress.org/support/topic/http-strict-transport-security ).
I still cannot figure out how to turn off HSTS on my WordPress blog. Also, cannot figure out what causes the server to generate that header on my blog in the first place… Any help is appreciated.
The solution from the above post worked. Issue solved.
Thanks David! Issue solved.
I applied solution from http://wordpress.org/support/topic/no-longer-receiving-alert-emails : “change the main WordPress email to an email on our domain. Before we had the main WordPress email set up as using a gmail account. Once we made the switch all alerts started coming back in. Must be a setting on our new hosting account that differs than our previous hosting”.
Now I am receiving admin login alerts from Wordfence.
However, I am still not receiving plugin / theme updates alerts. Right now, Wordfence 5.1.2 is available, but there has not been Wordfence email alert about that.
I still have this issue. I tried the official support FAQ I’m no longer receiving emails from Wordfence. What should I do? ; the check shows that the server is *not* on the black list.
Any other ideas what to check / do?

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Error updating Jetpack 2.7.2I have exactly the same error message updating today to Jetpack 2.9.3. Also hosted on AlterVista.
How come other plugins update without any problems, while updating Jetpack fails?

In reply to: Blocking Brute Force Attack on wp-login Causing DB Connection Error? Also, unfortunately, a savvy botnet consisting, reportedly, of 50000 bots may send distribute the attacks so that each bot starts from its IP just a handful of attacks that will fly under radar of any WP security plugin.
Great, thanks Mark!
Thanks, I sent an email to Mark at wordfence.

In reply to: Hacked By BadiI compared the before- and after-the hack backups; the hack is completely DB-related, no file in the file hierarchy was changed. Apparently, somebody saw my DB password in the wp-config.php file.
I think my web host lied to me. Itching to prove them that their server configuration does allow symbolic links to be abused.
Anyway. I protected myself by changing permissions on wp-config.php file to mode 600, then changing the DB password (all this after having restored the site from a good backup). Issue closed.

In reply to: Hacked By BadiI experience the same “Hacked By Badi” issue.
Jason, I checked the symlink exploit trail with my hosting (Webhosting Pad) and they answered
I can confirm our servers are secured ageinst these types of attacks. Our server configuration does not allow symbolic links to be abused in this mater.
Should I believe them?
LOL! Just discovered that BraveNewCode’s version-numbering approach is cyclic or spiral, rather than monotonic/linear. The changelog page wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wptouch/changelog sports two(!) releases labeled “Version 1.9.5”, and two(!) releases labeled “Version 1.9.6”.
Offtopic:
“Although progress is often associated with the Western notion of monotonic change in a straight, linear fashion, alternative conceptions exist, such as the cyclic theory of eternal return, or the “spiral-shaped” dialectic progress of Hegel, Marx, et al” ( wikipedia.org/wiki/Progress_(history) )
