    Food for thoughts!

There are so many plugins nowadays that it is is a real jungle! Also my guess is that people tend to add too many plugins having for effect to ultimately overload the database and reduce hosting resources! …At least that’s the mistake I’ve done, I realized it at the begging of this week, and took the decision to migrate to a new host as well, a little more generous in terms of resources given and a cPanel where all functionalities are not limited and privileges reduced on the database, as my previous WebHostCo… Now the trick is to know which ones of the plugins are a must and which one to avoid at all cost!

But lately it seems that there is a new trend of hosting pictures, JS and CSS on external servers, such as CloudFlare, JSDeliver, Swarmly… But that is also a challenge, learning to how to configure it as well as configuring some of the plugins like to WP Super Cache to avoid issues on the site…

If only someone would put up together a list with the DOs and DONTs, the plugins and services which are a must to give a website a good head start!

    Thanks for the reply…

I’ve installed autoptimize, WP Super Cache, WP-Optimize, as well as AMP, and ticked the speed-up option in JetPack to activate Photon… I’m on the right direction, euh 🙂

Maybe my site loading slowly is also due to the part of the World I’m located in… Africa! Slow internet connection, max 2 MBps or if extremely lucky evening time it can eventually reach 5 MBps 😉

    Hi there,

I’ve had the same issue… Have you got the front page to display your latest posts rather than a static page?

Theme option only show, when in the static front page section, it display a static page and not your latest posts!

My guess it is theme related, as it is either your posts or static page, but not both. However there is a way around it, in static page select static with a front page and also add a post page…

    Hope this solves your issue…

    Max
