Meant to post problem as solved yesterday but got over whelmed.
The problem was with the $wpdb as you rightly state but was with me calling the prefix twice inadvertently as it was already called in the $ossf_quotes variable.
Hope I didn’t waste your time. The security issue is in hand and will be included in the completed code.

Hi Guys don’t know if this helps: don’t use the plugin e the embeddable Google code to achieve the same result hopefully working here. For it to work I need to be logged in to my Google account that is registered to the url of the site.
Once I’m logged out the code breaks. So have to ensure that I’m permanently logged in to my account.

Ensure your theme has <?php wp_footer(); ?> It wont work without it.
