In reply to: [Responsive] 1.9.8.9 Installed. Update to 4.6.4?Sorry I couldn’t reply earlier, but as a regular user of Responsive on a few of my sites the general advice I have is take your backup then create a new test site for the up-date.
You will find TREMENDOUS changes are needed to bring it all up-to-date and these are best done in a separate test site while you get used to it all and create a new or refined set of any customisations.
Once you’re happy with the new style of the site you can update the working site and port your customisations over for a quick and easy upgrade.
It’s worth having a rollback plugin on your site so if it sill all goes wrong you can revert to the original site in a flash.
Thank you for your prompt reply and advice.
You appear to be correct about my server was unexpectedly running out of space. I just cleared a lot of old files and the plugin has now been reinstalled successfully.
I’m going to need a bigger server. 🙂Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Square] Square 1.6.8 & 1.6.9 Broke site: header & footerMy apologies for the delay due to work and illness in the last few weeks.
I did update my site several weeks ago and then refreshed my browser and this cleared the issue, so I have to assume, for me, it was a caching problem in my browser.
I have just now updated from version 1.7.5 to 1.7.7 and tested it and there is no issue with the headers & footers, so far, fingers crossed.
You can see it working here: http://freehomes.sterlingsecure.co.uk/
@innesz I suggest testing it, if you haven’t done so already with a rollback plugin to protect your installation if the latest version isn’t working for you. Good luck.

In reply to: [Square] Square 1.6.8 & 1.6.9 Broke site: header & footerUp-date. As I have now had time to investigate this issue I carried out the following tests:-
Created a test site withe the latest version of the theme and a child them for testing.
Ported over the CSS overrides. No problems with the formatting.
I then checked all my plugins to see if there were any odd ones that might be effecting the header & footer and breaking their formatting.
No problems with any of the plugins.
I then carried out a special test – up-dating the theme and creating a new child off the new version, then porting all CSS and other settings over to the new child.
Problem solved.
This is NOT an ideal solution because it did not tell me what was going wrong and whether it could be repeated in the future.
The up-date also threw up a new problem, but that is the subject of another thread.
I’ll be back.

In reply to: [Square] Square 1.6.8 & 1.6.9 Broke site: header & footerThank you for your advice.
I have repeated the update to the latest version 1.7.1 and found the same error – corruption in the formatting of header and footer. Yes, I did refresh the page in two browsers (Firefox & SeaMonkey).I don’t have time to investigate it at the moment but I wonder if there is a problem with my CSS overrides, conflicting with the theme under the latest version of WordPress? (Yes, I am up-to-date on WP.)
I have had to revert to the usable version 1.6.7 for now.
I have loaded images of the problem from one page:-
The page (working): http://freehomes.sterlingsecure.co.uk/stockport-powerhouse/town-centre-west/
Corrupted header image: http://freehomes.sterlingsecure.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/20200525-PageTop.jpg
Corrupted footer image: http://freehomes.sterlingsecure.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/20200525-PageFoot.jpg
You can see how the formatting for the page has been lost through the up-date. There has been no other design change to the site. The formatting of my site IS based on an assortment of CSS overrides to create the design. I have not investigated whether a particular override is influencing the corruption (very busy with work) as the site has worked perfectly until recently. If need be I will investigate if you have no other suggestion.
While I have numerous plugins on the site and they are all up-to-date they do not seem to be having any effect on the earlier version of the theme so I do not suspect theme for this issue.

In reply to: [Enhanced Media Library] FileBird is a good alternative to EMLThanks for the tip. I just checked it out and it appears the Lite version only supports 10 folders/sub-folders now.

In reply to: [Responsive] Responsive Child Site broken from 4.0.5 to 4.2.1You can ignore my last comment about the styling problem.
I just remembered I had modified the functions.php, in accordance with the https://wordpress.org/support/topic/child-theme-no-longer-being-applied/ support thread yesterday.
Once I reverted to original functions.php the site style is closer to the original and just needs polishing and fixing smaller issues.

In reply to: [Responsive] Responsive Child Site broken from 4.0.5 to 4.2.1It’s all block editor.
I have removed all blocks, saved and restored them and now have the page back on preview, but it’s a mess.
I haven’t been following all the changes throughout the 4.0 series of developments (my live sites all remain on 3.4.0), so the TestBed will need a lot of study to discover why it’s formatting is broken and how to bring everything up-to-date before I consider it stable enough for a live site.
For your information you can understand what I mean when you compare the TestBed with a Live site:–
TestBed (4.2.2)
http://www.sterlingsecure.co.uk/testbedWP/Live – Worldmaker (3.4)
https://worldmaker.sterlingsecure.co.uk/Both use the Child theme method and share a very common base of CSS overrides.
Only just discovered your response so my apologies for the delay and any confusion.
On the first point I do have rollback, through a separate rollback plugin not the rollback option that is supposed to be present in the Responsive Ready Sites plugin. I still cannot find any built-in rollback feature in Ready Sites for Responsive.
I am currently using a couple of sites to test this and one is flipped back and forward between 3.4 and the current 4.0.5, while the second is fixed on the latest version of Responsive to follow your update.
On the issue of the latest Responsive you haven’t got around to my question about the Wrapper HTML element and whether this is being removed.
My test site, shows that the Wrapper is not stretched fullscreen and I haven’t found any direct control over it. I do have CSS overrides that give a shadow effect on the Wrapper, but this is now broken, with the white shadow stretched across the screen fullwidth top and bottom.

In reply to: [Responsive] Theme Responsive 4.0.0We’re planning to run it only on a test site for a week or two to assess what needs to be done with our CSS overrides, then migrate any changes out across several sites. Meanwhile rollback will be kept on-hand in case of trouble.
