Aha! The problem was so simple. It was not working with the OceanWP theme. I tried a few other themes and it works fine. Sorry for the bother.
FYI – OceanWP is probably one of the most popular & widely used free WP themes w/ 500K+ active installations. So, ya might wanna address the no content issue w/ OceanWP…

Thanks
Admin > Manage Units > There is content in the JSON data for the units created. Maybe the RSS & JSON link browser errors are related to no content? Tested w/ Firefox & Chrome. I disabled all plugins except AAL and no content issue persists.
The plugin seems pretty intuitive and straightforward to use, so I am baffled why I’m experiencing this issue when others obviously say it works great in the reviews.
I must be missing something simple…
Nope. No errors. It shows the list of titles, images, and descriptions on admin backend before clicking “create”.
Nothing on the front end.
No errors. No content. Just the title of the unit created.Any known plugin conflicts with this?
p.s.
It would probably be a good idea to be very upfront and clear about the 3 unit limit with the free plugin version to avoid any confusion or frustration for users after they have invested their time in the plugin. Limit notice just pops up in admin? Would be super easy to put that info in plugin description on WordPress.Yeh, might be confused here, but thought I was trying to follow your documentation how to over-ride CSS with your custom function guide as I indicated in the link above.
I don’t understand how you think this is a request for another plugin.
I’m not using another plugin. I just created a simple plugin of my own to incorporate your suggested functions for over riding the CSS. It’s the same as if I were to add those functions to the theme files, but with a plugin it won’t get lost when the theme gets updated and I don’t feel like adding a child theme.Hi rozroz,
The shortcode I’m using is the same as your “advanced” example on your WP plugin page. Only change is trying to add “read more” ability.
Thanks
Aha!
It’s what I was looking for on lines 704 to 719.
Thank you for your help.
Hello again:
Is there any chance you could us help out and give example of the code we should use to make the index.php and the categories (blog layout) have the same nice appearance as the search page layout. (thumbnail o left, w/ title/excerpt on right and continue reading beneath…
Gave it a try but not having luck with it.
Thank you!

In reply to: [Grid Plus - Unlimited grid layout] Add Grid (admin) page is blank? Thanks for your help!
That worked for me 🙂Using the shortcode format example you have on the plugin page.
[feedzy-rss feeds="<validrssfeedusedhere>" max="5" feed_title="yes" target="_blank" refresh="1_hours" title="50" meta="author, date, time, tz=local" summary="yes" summarylength="300" thumb="no"]Thanks.
Which is the correct the CSS to edit if I want to manually change it instead of over riding it in theme CSS options?I’m using latest version of plugin on all updated WP installation w/ no other issues.
Good question about the short code!?
I can see to include the function as in your documentation,
but I could not find any reference how to implement it in shortcode! Please advise.
Thanks youGreat thanks!

In reply to: [RSS Feed Retriever] Page load speed…Sure would be nice if there were a feature to automatically create new cache for articles once they expire. Google does not index any of the articles feed like it did before the spinner …waiting for feed. So before even though it took a few second delay for the page to load, when it did…the article feed was already there. So when this was the case, Google indexes whatever new content is shown in the article feed list. Waaaaay better for seo.
I have 1000’s of posts, and each one uses the plugin to pull Google news feed based on the post title. So they are all going to have expired cache most likely for the user and Google bot.
Would be glad to BETA test a auto pre-caching feed feature.
Thanks, I tried a few things w/ no luck. Have already done alot of changes/tweaks to the default/main OceanWP theme, so don’t want to activate child theme and start with design changes all over again.
I tried copy/pasting the code from the search.php and overwrite the index.php wit it, but here’s what I got… see screenshots below imgur link.
1st screenshot is the search.php code used on the index.php file. Right idea, but the styling/layout is wrong.
2nd screenshot is the default search results page layout – it’s what I’d like to have as the default style for the “blog entries” layout for front page and categories.
See both screenshots compared:

Thank you for any help you can give on this…
This is the plugin you should try:
“Magic Post Thumbnail” – it’s a free WordPress plugin. There are other plugins that will show random images from your media library.
Look in wordpress plugins for “featured image” or “random image”
