I already completely understand how your plugin works. Can you recommend a plugin that does what I described? If not, not a big deal. Just thought you’d be familiar since you’re an expert in the niche.

@hendcorp strongly suggest you test your own plugin before changes. It’s very easy to create a demo/staging site and see issues when you click thru all the various options/settings, and how it affects the resulting backend/frontend user experience.
Yes and the fact that they don’t allow you to close the persistent nagging pop up in the admin screens when it is such an easy fix speaks volumes especially after they’ve been notified of this multiple times it’s an easy fix they pretend they don’t know how to do it and ask the user for specifics it’s a basic simple concept that applies to any user. By the way nagging notifications and pop ups are a NO-NO for WordPress plugins TOS but they don’t really seem to care.
Something sketchy went on with this plugin last year It’s almost like they sold it to another development team or they have new management they clearly don’t understand the importance of beta testing before major version updates It’s not that hard to run a plug in like this through its paces and check for bugs and errors before you release it and push it the users with the hopes that you’re going to get people to upgrade to the pro version it seems like a short term thinking money grab It would have been easy to get users like us to beta test on a demo production model since we’re already familiar with the ins and outs of this plugin all you had to do was reach out and offer free pro version for beta testing asking for feedback. This is a good lesson for developers for any plugin for WordPress to learn.

the most likely scenario is that we upgrade to latest version of plugin, migrated to v5, hated it because things stopped working and imports failed, rolled back to v4.
as developer it should be very simple for you to recreate various scenarios on multiple test sites and see for yourself where the bugs, errors and malfunction occur.
while you are at it, get rid of the nag popup for admin upgrade to v5 which can’t be dismissed and shows up all over the wp admin back end intrusively.

I can’t remember exactly. It was likely what I migrated to v5 and rolled back to v4 after not liking the new v5 user interface.

Thanks for this fix for now… it solved the issue.
v5 is just bad. Everything breaks. v4 was far better. What are the devs thinking? Pretty bad to pull the rug out from under users like this. Some folks like the OP here have production sites working well based on trust of a once reliable plugin.
Ok. We can use plugin like Ad Inserter or Code Snippets to insert text on search pages content, but it’s not working with the search results page, maybe since we are using the asl option to show the keyword search url like examplesite .com/?s=dlkjdlkjd
We have two sites with almost identical theme/plugin setup (blocksy free wp theme) and ASL plugin with same configurations (99% sure)…
One site shows the text “Sorry, but nothing matched…” below the H1 “Search Results for….” but oddly our other site does not show that text below the H1…

I know all the standard tricks, clear browswer, etc, etc. It’s a bug with your plugin if you check. Can’t dismiss the “still using v4” admin notice by clicking the X close icon in top right of notice.
Test it and and see. Whatever. We’ll use adblocker to fix it until you do.
If you need beta testers for new feature, let me know. I am glad to help.
Nice to know there is a clone display option. I assume each display created will also let the admin know which pages/posts the display is being shown on, so this way will be easy for admin to update content associated with the display if need be. You could let us have both the ability to create displays while also having the v4 ability in block editor (check box custom display) and then can add/subtract sources on the fly within the block editor while editing page/post. WIN/WIN
